It’s also well documented via credible sources that undercovers infiltrate protest groups and commit or encourage and insight or facilitate the commitment of illegal activities in order to implicate others, or give the protest group a bad name or make them all look like no good or dangerous criminals or just to gather intel and ids of who is involved.

I do know that. Are you suggesting that ALL of the illegal activities are done by infiltrators? That's a hell of a lot of infiltrators. Maybe there are no real greenies and they're all infiltrators... I know that the heads of at least three 'green' organisations know of and have given their blessing to illegal activities.

The point is to put a stop to the activity, eg, strawberry production and (European) beekeeping, or to damage the reputation of those industries. It's not all about publicity.

I don’t really mix with greenies or serious activists. So not in a position to comment on this like others in here might be.

I’m just surprised that the original perpetrators of this strawberry event have not been identified yet.

Must be like looking for a needle in a huge haystack trying to find the original perpetrator(s)

This is interesting, short term hurt for long term gain apparently.

Few crimes are as easy to commit, yet so seriously endanger public safety and threaten such commercial damage, as malicious food tampering. The perpetrators’ motivation is typically to create fear and hurt a company or industry. Yet history illustrates that, over time, the opposite occurs.

Nearly sent the entire industry broke.

My Ut Trinh, also known as Judy, was arrested on Sunday and charged with seven counts contamination of goods, which has a maximum 10-year prison penalty.

Police began investigating in September when sewing needles were found in fruit, with a further 230 incidents reported nationwide impacting 68 strawberry brands, the detective told reporters in Brisbane.

Forty-nine brands were Queensland-based. In Queensland, 77 incidents were reported. Of those, 15 were believed to be a hoax or a false complaint, he said.

What do people think a suitable sentence is going to be?

I was listening to talk back and someone was on saying the 10 year maximum sentence would be too light lol.

They are going to have to make a statement to ensure no one decides to do the same in the future to prevent the economic damage more than anything but gee some people are going completely off tap.
