We don't have any body of evidence that Stringer can become a good midfielder - yet! We have seen the rare cameo of him charging out of the centre to kick long towards goal but this is not a consistent feature. To achieve this he needs to:
- become much tougher in his attack on the ball
- increase his fitness by a large margin.

+ significantly improve the defensive side of his game

His hamstring issues concern me greatly especially for a
burst type player, i don't think his head is in the game
at the moment and fair enough too. I also think he is
the most over rated and excused player at our club.
There is no i in team or a functioning forward line.

Disagree. Last time I checked there were actually three "i"s in a functioning forward line but only two in a dysfunctional forward line. Go figure.

I blame MC.

How many years do we have to acknowledge "he hasn't got the tank.."
As posted elsewhere, it's time to spell out loud and clear to Jake what we want and expect. We all know what he has got. We want he has got. We need what he has got. It's 2018 for Jake, or we move him on.

Can he really be considered a small forward at 192cm tall? I have seen him in the midfield and I really like it, but I think he cannot read the play as an inside mid. IMO, if he gets back to 75% of 2015 then play him in forward line only, if he continues to struggle play him 70% forward 30% midfield.
He plays like a small forward which is an indictment on him for his size.

I'd love to try him as a receiving half back for a while. Dusty played there for a season before going into the midfield. I think JJ and Stringer rotating through the wing/HBF could work out and would let Stringer get his hands on the ball in space a bit more.
I like this. I reckon he could be really damaging off the half back line. Gives him opportunity to use burst and to kick long goals without pressure of set shots close to goal.

On current form, current fitness and injury and personal problems, would another club really want him?

Yep. That's the bigger issue than his tank, imo. He's definitely way too attack focused when he goes in the middle. His opponent often drifts out the back and creates a huge amount of space.

Honestly I don't even think his tank is that big a deal these days. Wouldn't surprise me if he has had more good last quarters than first or second in the last year or two.

You bet. Someone would back themselves to find the magic switch. But another so-so year and it's a Vegemite sandwich and a pick upgrade.

Damn letter "I" did not think that one through.;)

Round 19 versus Essendon when the Dogs kicked 19-12 what a grand
group of twenty two players.
