Congratulations Ross Lyon. It is about time someone at our club took a proactive approach towards injuries. His policy on giving players the due time to recover is a breath of fresh air. Despite what the media believes our premiership window is far from closed. It is good to see Ross Lyon taking care and not throwing the future of our talented group to attempt to make finals. There is always next year and the club will be better for it if we stay predominantly injury free next year. If our horrible run with injuries continues I suggest we blood youngsters instead of desperately trying to grasp onto positions 5-8 like last year. Even let the likes of Gardiner and Maguire have the rest of the year off and be good to go next year. This allows us to have a definitive crack at the top 4 when our players have overcome their injuries. Better to be out of the eight and top up our list with early picks than to be pedestrians in September.

He does have a good attitude towards injuries and it's good that he is giving players time to recover (unlike GT did) but his game plan is terrible. I hate the way we are playing and the way we flooded against Hawthorn was disgraceful and I don't care how many injuries we have, if we want to move forward into the future we have to play an attacking brand of football so the likes of Gilbert,Armitage etc can develop into stars and learn to play the right style of football.

I agree. There is no excuse for the football we played last night. I was very happy with the game plan last year under GT but what annoyed me was his reluctance to get a qualified ruckman. He insisted on recruiting pinch hitters simply to keep the medias mouth shut about how we never had a decent ruckman after Spider left. GT had poor injury management and Lyon has rectified that and our ruckmen but has butchered the game plan that was more than servicable to us last year.

But if only we could win it this year with Harvs in the team. Winning one without Harvs won't be quite the same.
