Strong Leadership

Some called for strong leadership during this week and judging by this, strong leadership has been delivered.

Well, that's great stuff and that seems more like the truth than the crap that has been 'made up' over the last month.

We are the greatest club ever and we will soon reach greatness again. All the rest will stand in awe!

If this speech had come right after the season ended it would have been fantastic and would have built on what I saw as improvement from a number of our players on our list despite the spoon

Unfortunately it comes after a number of gaffs that he alludes to himself

Frankly I don't care who leads our club as long as they are good at it
I just want a clear vision that is attainable and is made clear to the membership. The leadership I want backs up the pretty speeches with inspiring actions

You love to fall into mockery and condescension when you know you are on shaky ground Not sure where I said I wanted them all signed now. In fact I have argued that we are not the only club that has unsigned players. The changes to the TPP over the next five years has complicated negotiations. My issue was with the statement about T-Bird on our website. Again they backed themselves into a corner as they did with the youth policy. They handed over all the negotiating cards to Thornton's manager and if they don't sign him they will look stupid.

One minute you are telling us don't believe everything you read or hear in the media(a valid point) and the next you want us to swallow hook line and sinker the statements of someone on the campaign trail

Yes I have an axe to grind against those playing politics within the club and that is not only Smorgon. Smorgon importantly had ambitions to be president the moment he joined the board. He got his wish

His first statement as president did not exactly inspire confidence and post season when the heat was applied he wilted.

If you think he has shown good leadership then again fine we will agree to disagree.

I think Brown probably egged on by Elliott has been counter productive in what he has done, but the one thing that came out of the debacle was how Smorgon reacted to pressure and if you think he was decisive and clear thinking then good on you

If a viable ticket puts itself up for election I would vote for them, but only if they seem to be on the same page. Disunity is the killer and a couple of gimmicks doesn't suddenly change group dynamics.

Personally I think we will keep the present board fairly intact because I doubt a viable alternative ticket will emerge. If you think that is a good thing then again good on you

^ so anyway, this thread was not really about what came before, but rather that strong leadership was called for and strong leadership was shown. I personally beleieve that this is just another sign of the turning tide.
