What we need as a team in 2015.

A genuine small forward to stand up and perform as consistently as possible for a small forward. Please note, Jamie Elliott wasn't a small forward in 2014, he was a marking forward. They tried making him one, but he is too damn good to not be taking those big contested marks! Jarryd Blair is also not a traditional small forward. He is more of a pressure forward, similiar to the Sack. We need another Neon Leon, or Didak to step up and be at the feet of Trav.

We need a genuine speedster on the wing, similiar to Daisy in his prime. Can Nathan Freeman be this player? I feel as though he will be wasted as a purely outside midfielder too, considering the size he has added to his frame, and from what I've heard, he isn't just an outside midfielder. Do we have someone on the list capable of this role?

The last, but not least, is disposal efficiency out of our backline.

Have I missed anything else?

Varcoe

The best small forward option is Kennedy IMO, I think with our added midfield depth he can be used more up forward and at the bottom end of the midfield rotation.

The outside pace has been improved with Varcoe and Freeman will help too, and although he will develop into a ball winner too, he will be able to run the lines especially early in his career. The long shot here is Marsh, his pace is Mooney like yet he's 192cm.

I think we addressed the disposal efficiency problem with this draft, and while that may take time to develop and make an impact at senior level, in the mean time we do have some good users of the ball off half back with Langdon, Reid and Seedsman leading the way.

The problem is 2015 may still be 1-2 more years too early for everything to come in place for a whole season.

I agree we need a dynamic small forward, we can get by in 2015 and will have to but this should be a priority next season.

I wonder if Scharenberg can play off a wing until he puts some more body mass on. He's also a while away, but I think he could be useful on the wing early for us maybe in a similar role to Aish this season.

A crumbing small forward is handy. Someone in the mould of Eddie Betts would be good as he applies as much pressure as Jarryd Blair, has a good overhead mark for his size and reads crumbs as good as Andrew Krakouer.

A player like him keeps the ball inside 50 better than Goldsack and Blair combined.

Goldsack had 86 tackles last year and Betts had 74.

Betts doesn't get as many tackles because he is to busy crumbing, kicking goal, and delivering it to forwards properly. Those are all thing that help keep the ball inside 50, things that Goldsack and Blair can't do.

You were talking about keeping the ball inside 50, not kicking goals as a forward. In this case I would rather both Elliott and Fasolo to Betts.

The aim of the game is to kick goal, no point in keeping the ball inside 50 if your not kicking goal. Betts kicks goals crumbs packs and applies forward pressure.

You would rather Fasolo kicking goal than Betts or putting on pressure. Because he does neither of these things better than Betts. Elliott doesn't even kick more goals than Betts.

I prefer Fasolo because he is younger with greater room for improvement. Elliott is a star.

Fasolo has room for improvent but he'll never be good as Betts, he doesn't have the natural crumbing ability and doesn't apply forward pressure. Elliott is a star but so is Betts.

Betts is a very good player and has had a fine career. I just think/hope that Fasolo will have a break out year.

Fair enough, but for the purpose of structural needs I'd like a Betts type in the team.

In an ideal world I would also like a player of Bett's calibre but I also think we have quite a few smaller forward options. In addition to Elliott and Fasolo we have Kennedy, Blair, Broomhead and The great Swan. I think our main issue is delivery into the forward 50. If we can fix that then our goals and spread of goal kickers will increase dramatically.

I think Broomhead and Kennedy can assist Elliott with crumbing in the forward 50.

Agree disposal out of defense is an area requiring help as is some pace and two way running in the midfield.

Wouldn't surprise me if one of Oxley, Monteit or Maynard get an early look in to fix some of the defensive 50 disposal.

Pace will come with Freeman, Crisp and the three crumbing forwards rotating through the middle.

More endurance for Adams and Fasolo and the addition of Greenwood and Crisp should help with the two way running.

I count Varcoe as a replacement for Lumumba, so it's like for like and we still need a but more speed. More than speed, though, we need creativity - the sort that Didak, Davis and Karkeour gave us. That is, elite skills that can turn the opposition inside out. And we need that forward and in defence. Come back Leon!

Oxley moves like his name sake...slow, too slow for AFL especially the good sides.
