Some of us at Port would love to have Dew back as a coach at some stage. I am not sure it that is even a possibility but we were wondering what's the Swans fans' view of him? Is he any good?

Many would not be too disappointed if he left.

Pretty sure the Hawks wanted him to stay on after he left but he went to Sydney to be with his GF because she had a Sydney job.
If he is still with her and she still has a job is he going to leave ?
More money and babies maybe???

You guys are sponsered by four'n'twenty right? He's halfway out the door already.

With Eade given the boot how long until the Dew to GCS rumours start circulating?
They already are. Was mentioned last night on the footy media & will only grow stronger. I believe there's a clear defined succession plan in place with Horse if he wants to ride it out. The question would be, how long is he willing to sit back as an assistant? I'd say he'd jump at the chance of getting his hands on a Collingwood or Port. Less so a GC or Brissy tho.

I reckon GC would be a great fit! A young talented list, a nice big war chest (if GAblett goes), a dream for a young ambitious coach. I think Dew would be of the perfect demographic for them too.
Wouldn't surprise me, if the opportunity presented itself, that Dew would pursue it and he'd be crazy not too. I reckon Kirk could easily continue the succession plan.

Geez I hope noone touches Shawry... Take Dew, just keep your mitts off Shaw.

I agree. I think it's time for Dew to move and I think GC is a good option.... even though I think Cochrane is a bit of a knob the off field stuff has been corrected recently. The list has a strong spine, plenty of good young talent and really only needs one smart and strategic draft (they have 5 of the first 25 or so this year) and with some direction and it could potentially fly up the ladder.

For us it's a loss but Blakey, Playfair, Kirk and Shaw give us a pretty fair base to build on and strategize around

It'd be interesting to see how someone from the Horse school of coaching goes coaching another team. If Dew shares Horse's emphasis on culture and contested footy, he'd be exactly the right man for a club like Gold Coast.

I still think sacking McKenna was a putrid decision that can only be matched by the Malthouse-Buckley move and Freo's resigning of Ross Lyon.

100% agree with all of that

I'd be astonished if Stewy Dew went to the Suns. Why would he, as heir apparent at the Swans?

Caretaker coach Dean Solomon is the outstanding choice for GCS immediate future. If the Board are brave enough, and want to build an authentic club culture.

The GCS club got ahead of itself, and forgot that clubs are comprised of people. Appointing Dean Solomon would address that - again, if the GCS Board are brave enough.

Longmire has signed onto a long term deal into the 2020s I believe.

That won't last long..... he'll be getting sounded out for assistant roles this off season
If Dew leaves then Shaw should be upgraded into the senior coaches line up. He has been a great assett coaching the ressies ,preparing some of our future stars for the rigours of first team football.

I could see Shaw taking on the senior role at the Pies in the future. The guy is a natural and his charges seem to have a huge respect for him. He's one guy that I would very much like to have a bright future in footy and he'd do wonders for their culture.
