PS: They still have me baffled.

Yeah Port played very very bad today. A lot of the more senior players did not come out to play for some reason today. Fiegert - he looked like he celebrated his 100th game before the match started. Poulton was pathetic, as was Lyle and most of the side. THe only players that played well for Port was Harwood and Tony Brown. Mcguiness - he could of played his last senior game for us - he is completly useless...not only has he put on about 10 kg this year he refuses to run and just isnt interested. Our fringe players played ok today.

I cant remember the last time Port lost at Alberton by 10 goals. Its got to be out worst loss at home for a large number of years. Its the first time ive ever seen Port literally give up as well.

Lennon had what seemed to be a million rouches...White was left basically alont all day and dominated. Some good signs for the Power tho was the return game of Barny French. He dominated all day today - had about a million touches and a million hitouts. Toby THurstans also played very very well.

oh well - you cant win every week - and we have been up for 10 weeks so we were probably due for a bad day.

thanks to sturt for helping the EAGLES return to their rightful position on top of the rest once again - setting up this weeks game as battle for top spot - which we should keep.

Macca - how easily you seem to forget losses at alberton - The EAGLES slaughtered you by almost 10 goals (was 54 points) last year when it was a neutral ground.

Good to see steven williams goal of not losing at home has been smashed already with matches at alberton against EAGLES, west & norwood to come. Back to the drawing board!!. Any more goals - (maybe not losing two in a row at home?)

Lindsay may get a challenge for a change this week in ruck. He's fired up after the suspension last time. Will not get sucked in as poole does but will make his prescence felt.

Hmmm I agree with most of that. What was that free for on the wing where Lyle kicked the ball out on the full then got another kick? Speaking of Port players and weight gain it was a shame that tubby ****er Carter wasn't playing, I've only heard about how fat he's gotten.
Just about the entire last half of the last quarter was absolute junk by both teams, Port weren't into it and Sturt had already done enough. How much longer are the Power going to ignore the extremely talented Toby Thurstans? He can move quickly, hold a mark and is rarely beaten at centre half back.
White wasn't left to dominate, he just did. The Eagles Port match should be a belter, defintitely a bigfooty.com grudge match between eddie and Macca.

bring on the challengers for top spot. Hope it is a fine day so port cannot drag us down to their level as they did when we last met

humphrey - glenn mcgrath got 5 for 54 in the 1st innings - did you hear the yobs chanting ooh aaah glenn mcgrath - maybe some sad fat pricks sitting at LORDS high-fiving in self congratulation?

I'd suggest a gig at a the eagles footy club for sure.
there is a precedent - in 1993 (an eagles premiership year) TISM played at Torquay Football Ground, so it is another eagles premiership this year and another TISM footy ground concert this time at EAGLE PARK oval.

Well done Sturt beating Port at Alberton would actually be equivalent to you guys winning a premiership. Bad luck its only July not October, well at least you got something out of this season.

You seem pretty confident about your Eagles this week eddie. Infact the last time I saw an Eagle supporter that confident about the Eagles beating Port was 1/2 time of the 94 Grand Final.:D

Exactly.. after our insipid, season killing performances earlier this year, we have to take some heart out of these victories. It would've been an interesting finals series had we been playing like this weeks ago.

Funny thing...I heard the exact same thing in the 2000 Grand Final. Heh heh heh...

We have macca who can't remember last losses to the eagles but carb the elephant memory man recalls a
eagles port match 7 years ago. Sorry I do not recall the outcome of that match - I have the first half on a video tape somewhere though. I recall the weather was shocking.

Port should be unsettled with player changes, no doubt they will be fired up after sturt belted them. We'll see - I'm not overconfident. Lets hope for fine conditions.
Let's hope the Crows should give Johncock his AFL debut this week.

The reason i didnt remember that game was because i didnt go to it. THe reason why i didnt go to it was because i had to work in the morning, then i saw my grandfather who was in hospital at the time in the afternoon.
All i remember from the game is the last quarter i saw onABC. The reason the Eagles won that game was fairly straight forward tho - Port had played a greulling game against Centrals - the toughest game i had seen for at least 3-4 years on the monday or tuesday...Eagles had the bye the week before. A 4 day rest compared to a two week rest....hmmm i wonder who is gonna be fitter?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Sturt d Port

Regarding the 94 Grand Final - well thats just one of the greatest Grand Finals of all time. A game of two halves. Eagles skip away to a very early 7 goal lead before Port kick the last 2 of the first quarter. The second quarter was dead even. The third quarter saw Port pepper the goals and creep back to a 2 goal deficit at 3/4 time.

THe last quarter still gives me goosebumps every time i watch it. Just the most dominating quarter of 4th quarter grand final footy youll ever see! Just amazing. Hodges 5 goals in the quarter...Malakellis kicked 2, Mcleod kicked 2 in the quarter. The most dominating display from 1 man (Scott Hodges) in a quarter of grand final footy ive seen. Simply amazing. I cried after the win...was awesome. I dont think anyone except the Port players and coaching staff thought we could come back after that start! Thats why port fans love scotty hodges - thats why everyone else hates him - because he has won so many games for Port Adelaide!!!

Ive lost count the amount of times ive watched that grand final - wuold be about 80 times i reckon...in fact ill go and watch it again now!

Dammit, if the Blues could find some consistency, they'd be first on the ladder. Their best, as shown from the last two weeks, is pretty bloody good. But some weeks they're lucky to be able to remember which ground to drive to, let alone score.

Six games to go.... they need to win all six to MAYBE scrape into the 5. And if they do, they'll be good enough to win the flag from 5th on the ladder. (Then I'll have to fly home from Brisbane to go the game.)

Eddie, either Iv'e got a good memory or you have a very bad one. C'mon Eddie the Eagles haven't made that many Grand Finals, you should be able to remember all of them.:D

Also the sun was shinning very brightly after half time. It ended up being a very beautiful day.:)

Yes, that was "the best ever" as Jack said afterwards. If you want to make it a double feature video showing, just put the 1998 GF on afterwards - Tommy Carr and Stephen Carter at their best!

Another fantastic game!! Tommy Carr came straight off the bench to hip and shoulder Irvin whos jaw got broken in easily the biggest collision ive seen on a football field. However the bump was 100% fair, there was no malice involved just Irvin was going for the ball and Carr was a split second too late in spoiling the ball. Carter kinghit Atkinson...the commentators said its one of the stupidest things theyve ever seen and they doubt Carter will have an effect on the game after that - yet he was the main playmaker in our third quarter comeback. Obstys goal in the last quarter was great - not to mention Beinkes that sealed the game.
That was the grand final where everyone whinged that we had all this AFL talent in our side - even tho the majority of the AFL players only played about 4 AFL games that year.

on 5aa tonite they talked briefly about a punch that someone threw on saturday sturt v port that should have been reported. what are the details? I assume port went the biff as they were getting flogged?

No actually - i think if its what im thinking of it was in the second quarter and Sturt went the biff. I dont remember who it was or whatever but their was a little wrestle on the members wing and it didnt seem like it was anymore than the average AFL "push and shove" but it was Sturt who started this one
