Give Sturt a minimum of 2 years.

Has high footy IQ and one of the better forward half options we’ve had in years.

Mad to let him go.
And he can kick straight
Needs to learn to use his body a bit more in the contest
Was really good today , stoked for him and very glad he’s proving me wrong .

Wouldn’t be surprised if we barely see Brodie again outside of the odd cameo here and there tbh.

I have always stated I quite rate Johnson and Erasmus. Young is here to stay in the midfield as well imo. Obviously Brayshaw and Serong walk into our starting centre bounce combination. There isn’t many spots left, if any.
Brayshaw/Serong/Johnson/Erasmus/Young/Brodie/Henry/NOD/Stanley with Darcy/Jackson sounds potent.

--------------------------
Ryan/Pearce/Clark
NOD/Cox/Wagner

Darcy/Young/Serong
Henry/Brodie/Brayshaw

Erasmus/Treacy/Fredrick
Jackson/Amiss/Schultz

Bench: Johnson, Stanley, Sturt, Walters
Sub: Fyfe
----------------------------

NOD moves to Halfback to replace Hughes, good enough defensively to cover and his run & carry helps Wagner from being targeted since Clark's playing the shutdown role.

Ruck/Rove sees Young included. Brayshaw moves to the wing and rotates where needed. Jackson plays his hybrid Fwd/Mid/Ruck role and wins a Brownlow one day doing it. Henry takes the other wing (touch wood he stays) and Brodie starts centre. Rotates with Erasmus on the HFF, both have got the size and decent overhead to be a threat plus keeps them fresh.

Johnson and Stanley rotate where needed. Fyfe as the sub feels good, fresh wrecking ball and danger up forward as an impact player - might even extend his career for the two contracted years. Squeezes out and JOM/Aish but that's the brutal nature of footy and they'll make handy depth.

I already hold my breath when NOD has the ball across the half back line right now, don't think I could deal with consistent delivery out of defense from him lol

I've turned around on Sturt, after seeing him regularly struggle at WAFL level last year I thought all the hype around him was starting to become nothing more than a dream, but no, he's still the player we all know he's capable of being, I never want to see him outside of the team again.

I reckon Brodie should replace JOM

Nah, JOMs versatility has been pretty important.
Brodie can only play one position which is why he is playing for Peel.

Agree cant believe I want him to stay on now offers something different beautiful kick.
Just trying to ignore that he still at times looks like the most lethargic casual AFL footballer you will ever see maybe he is just laconic and relaxed.

That was a knock on a particular blonde flanker we drafted 20 years ago. Not saying Sturt is a next David Mundy but the impression can be misleading sometimes. Mundy appeared very laconic and relaxed on the field but was deceptively fast with his decision making

x2.

He’d had some alright games earlier in the year but his past few weeks he’s been giving himself plenty of shots on goal, and that moment where he pressured the Brisbane guy to kick it ootf and then slotted the set shot sealed the deal for me.

Very happy to have been wrong about him

Confidence baby.

Someone at Freo must think he’s going ok. Would be odd to do an article on a player you plan to cut in 6 weeks.

Article: Will Sturt Stay?
Probably the most important part is that he wants to be here. That much is clear. You almost can’t buy that attitude

So, how many feathers will Belly's need for his cap to keep Henry? I must admit, I will start to lose a bit of faith in good ol Belly if Henry goes the same way as Logue.

Because at some point your can't keep being held at ransom by Col.
I think they've done that though, didnt go over the top keeping Logue, doesnt seem like we are going over the top keeping Henry. The stable of Young clients is getting smaller every year

Sturt will stay IMO

Henry I can’t get a read on
Probably knows it’s best to stay but C Young blowing smoke up his ass would be clouding his judgement
The ironic thing is, the Dockers are a team on the rise with a deficiency in wing stocks. If Henry was playing for another team and out of contract, his best option would be getting traded to the Dockers.

It's definitely a decent chance of blowing up in his face completely. Not gonna lie, I wouldnt have too much sympathy for him

Out of curiosity, I just checked his website and Longmuir is no longer a client. Assuming Henry leaves, that will leave Col with only Johnson, Chapman and Banfield as Dockers clients. He only has 1 coach on the books and it's not an AFL coach. His bargaining power seems to be diminishing rapidly.

Another crazy thing, about 80% of AFL players on his books have shifted teams (at least once). That's actually not a good look.

I think someone listed all his client not too long ago and there were a couple of others of decreasing importance but yeah, with JL seemingly giving him the axe, I think the club is doing all it can to basically cut ties with the cockroach.

This Henry stuff honestly must have been the last straw. It's not good for anyone except Colon
