Pretty sure Suban is insisting McCarthy gets included to make the deal fairer for Freo. Hawthorn is offering to throw in Hill for nothing just to make sure they don't get in Suban's bad side.

Ballantyne saw the amount of interest for Suban and told the club he wished to test the waters. When Ross told Ballantyne some home truths about the fact Suban is clearly a better player Ballantyne apparently lost it.
Fremantle have been told by many clubs to keep Suban wrapped in cotton wool and hence his demotion to the WAFL.
Ballantyne has unfortunately not had as much love and hence continues to play for the Dockers.
