And come to think of it, it's more than just Subes. We have many players suited to this size ground, including Sutcliffe and Crozier.
Our small, speedy forward brigade is going to be a real handful for Sydney.
I said last week that I considered Collingwood the least able defence to handle Ballantyne and Walters. Really, no team in the comp has our two small fwds covered and that definitely includes Sydney.

I'm just not sure whether I prefer a dry day there or wet.

Jees I hope its wet , with Mundy , Barlow, Crowley and Suban in the middle the strength of our midfield
is going to be the telling factor in the game and one IMO we can win especially when you have Fyfe to
take the honour's against Goodes

I think the umpires are going to be watching Goodes every time he goes into a contest after Dermies comments on fox footy

And doesn't mind puffing out the chest and going in to help teammates.
Reckon he'd be a bluer in civilian life.

Picks good options too.
Was he captain of Vic Metro ?

He does have a bowl cut though.

Edit: HE SHOULD GO BACK TO THIS... THE SKULL

STRIKE FEAR INTO THE HEARTS OF HIS OPPONENTS. ALSO... it is well known that men with completely shaved heads are generally stars (SEE: CHAPPY, GAZ JR).

And so they should.
The reel they showed tonight on AFL teams of Goodes in several games including last years grand final, was damning.
Paul Roos is trying to defend the indefensible.
Goodes has been doing this too much it seems.; definitely a dangerous tactic and I'd love to see our acting captain approach the umpires before the first bounce to ask how they intend to treat Goodes' half slides. ( purely from his teammates' safety perspective ).

Some Sydney fans trying to defend him ,others no sympathy and want to see him stop it

Parker on teams said that it could be very hard for him not to us his knees after doing it for so long
BS:thumbsdown:

Okay think about this one, when Hilly comes back, if the choice was between only Suban and the improving Sutcliffe to be dropped, who would you drop?

A couple of games ago it was an easy decision, but now I call it 50/50.

I will back Sutcliffe because of the potential greater upside, I think he is making his move to being a best 22 player. The depth is almost enough to make you cry:D

Didn't see the reel but the one against the Hawks was nothing more than awkward, desperate with a twist of aging champ to it.If you saw our Piddling Pies game Elvis did something very similar albeit better timed/executed and therefore zero player contact.
I thought the Hawk made a big deal of bugger all.I am not disagreeing with the fact that Goodes should get it out of his game.

Suban has been great this year, his left foot is such a weapon. Even though he's always had a cannon of a boot, I remember when he started he would always bomb without looking and turn it over. He can pinpoint beautiful passes now. So valuable coming out of defense.

The Hawthorn Grand Final one involved Cyril and was very dangerous .
Not a chance in hell is Goodes not doing this deliberately to overcome his diminishing pace.
Dermott is absolutely correct when he says , it is only a matter of time before a player is injured seriously by Goodes' 45 degree slide out under their legs.

Even more disappointing, albeit not surprising , is Paul Roos' defence of Goodes.
If Barlow was to break his leg again because of Goodes doing this he should sue their arse.

The big problem is he is doing this regularly and, Gibson was it ? , wasn't staging, he was hurt and more importantly it could have been a serious injury.

I am very serious when I say I believe our acting Captain tomorrow should approach the umpires before the first bounce and ask them how they are going to call this tactic of Goodes.
If for no other reason than to get the umpires focussing on him; Goodes gets away with far too much on the footy field.

It's pretty hard to argue against that, isn't it.

I love Goodes as a player, but he is a dirty bastard at times.

Except for the obligatory, "we could score some melbourned players, f*** that" - except for you Jessie!

AFL should have taken a big stick to their list, loss of draft picks, reduction in salary cap, whatever it took to make other teams supporters feel the slightest bit sympathetic, but no, the feather duster came out. Will spell the end for them.

Jack Viney?

I really do agree with this. Its not something I had really noticed until Dermie mentioned it, goodes does play that way, it is dangerous, lacks courage and whilst it may not be a deliberate ploy to hurt another player, it is reckless. Gibson is out this week because of the injury he sustained. goodes at the very least should have gotten some points against him to put him on notice

Yep absolutely correct Fred.Saw the footage last night and it was only Cyril's elastic evasive instincts which prevented him being snapped in half like a carrot.
Roos is right that it's a soccer tackling technique but with that sort of timing it is a technique employed only by dirty-leg-snapping-arsewipes.
I admire Goodes but that footage is very average.

Anyone got a link to the footage?
