I'm not a fan of Subiaco oval.
I feel that when you compare it to other ovals, we have the most boring.
I don't know what it is, but something should be done to make it more modern. I think it's the turf- its a dull green colour. I would like to know what others think about it.:thumbsu:

Its a shithole. Its 25 years+ out of date and needs to be bulldozed. Everyone knows that. Absolutely nothing to do with the colour of the grass - its just a shit 1960's/1970's standard venue.

Yeah... I was really looking forward to that new stadium.

Lol I think the problems extend well beyond the colour of the grass.

Subiaco Oval - Too Shit

that is more like it.

Id love a new stadium - but to be honest its not the overriding factor in it being 'boring' for me... its the atmosphere compared to Vic games... such a golf clapping, silent seniors, no banners etc crowd 99% of the time... id like some life injected into the crowds over a new stadium or greener grass to deal with the 'boring' side of things

perhaps it needs some more airconditioned boxes so the corporate sponsors can enjoy the game in style......

Banners shit me to tears and they should be left to losers at pro wrestling events. Im not sure the "we applaud what you have overcome" banner made the experiance more enjoyable for me.

As for boring, you should try watching the game,

All perth needs is a stadium set up like the G build the stands up and not out. Build it at 60,000 with view to adding 10,000, .

Should we ban old people, dig up a quality playing surface and make peole clap loud?

Not to mention that it runs East-West which is unbelievable, absolute disgrace and an embarrassment to WA.

Once in a while I just can't be bothered going to the games, because it's so bloody squashy when it's a fullhouse, a thousand ***** in the toilets at the breaks, have to take miniature steps to get out at the end of the game from so many people. At least I'm not on the sunny side.

Agree with all that's been said, it really is a joke not that I go there anymore. Tell me, those of you who do, is that idiot in the suit with the clipboard still around sticking his stupid head into everything including the nearest camera and trying to look important? I was at an AFL game a couple of years ago and he was, as usual, at the toss and I kid you not he actually pointed which way the winning captain chose to kick.
I haven't seen a similar type of official at any other AFL venue and I've been to most of them.

I still love going, The atmosphere is awesome and we play well on the ground, Its like no other ground in Aus and orthou it would have been nice to have a new stadium I would suggest keeping the ground diamentions the same as other teams struggle on the big ground.

If you think subi is bad you shoulda been around when the games were played at the WACA...:thumbsd:

I like having the biggest playing surface in the comp for the advantage it brings and makes the game more open... but as for Stadiums, you can't go past the Docklands/Etihad. Great for fans all round.

Hopefully one day WA will host the Grand Final, be it because a home team is playing or even just a rotation system like the Champions League soccer final.

I prefer going to games in Melbourne, simply because at Subiaco, the entire crowd is cheering for the same team. I prefer a bit of conflict in the crowd, makes the experience more enjoyable. I think the dimensions of the subi ground have always suited us though for some reason. I think a stadium like Etihad (with a better surface etc) would be ideal for Perth, subi is just way too outdated for a city that has one of the biggest AFL support bases in the country.

There's no point just moaning about the lack of a decent stadium get on and lobby the State Government for a new one. Between West Coast and Freo we have around 100,000 supporters and that is a significant block of votes that would get them running scared of losing the next election.
Make no mistake we are still a wealthy State and despite the doom and gloom scenarios we are constantly being fed by the media it could be a goer.If Victoria can do these things then we certainly can as our earnings potential (as a State) should be much higher per capita.

Worst facilities for the audience in Australia. Telstra Dome is something we should be looking at that place is the best stadium I've ever been too.

I have just returned from a footy weekend in Melbourne where I attended four games - two at the MCG and two at the Dome.
I now have decided that I don't want a stadium which seats over 50,000. Each game I went to,(except the Eagles/Melbourne) people were leaving halfway through the last quarter( whether their teams were winning or losing) just to avoid the horrendous crowds for both trains and trams.
At Subiaco, I have walked to the car, driven home and opened a bottle of wine before some people in Melbourne have even caught a train! :D

Most unusual particularly if it was after an Eagles game and you stayed till the finish. You must live in fairly close proximity to the ground.

Ah, no

It's much easier to get in and out of venues and onto transport here than it is in Perth.

Strongly disagree.

It would be good for WA teams to have a stadium like Ettihad in Perth, preferably 70,000. I have only been to Subiaco Oval once, but i think both the WACA and Subiaco have to be the worst 2 grounds for viewing sports in Australia (considering their size)

What I think we need, is a stadium like Ettihad dome here, our performances at this venue is very poor to say the least. And maybe this is one of the reasons why WA teams have had a really bad record in Melbourne(adjusting from the outdoor environment to the indoor environment) Build the stadium with an open/closed roof as well. Would be really good for rock concerts, major events, where you could attract more people.
