Gerard used to be mates with Matt Price, back then he always had a soft spot for Freo. Even wrote some ripping articles in 2010 about how good it was to see us do well.

Enter Ross and Gerard has done a full turn. I am pretty sure Ross threatened to sue him over an article where he used some very strong words to describe the appointment of Ross. I have a feeling though this hatred for Ross went back long before he took on the Dockers job.

He lined us up in his "Minority Report" segment on Before the Bounce (What it use to be called on Fox Footy) in 2010 after we changed our jumper. Basically tore shreds off Freo with no one there to have a go back. The panel just sat back and went wow, where did that come from. He's a gutless hack who can be articulate but I hated him from that day ever since. I wrote an email to Fox Footy having a go back at him.

I think he started hating us slightly earlier, maybe when the rivalry started and maybe the Solomon hit? I'm glad he's done it since it shows his true colours and having media people like that, it's only a matter of time until they have egg on their faces. Approximately three weeks by my calculations.

His article of Foxsports on Friday was so toxic it blew my mind that it was even published. He tried to create a picture in which the Cats were the underdogs. The AFL elders and media were apparently opposed to Freo going down there because the home ground advantage was too much. We were part of the larger AFL community of snobs and elitists. He quoted Ross Lyon when he was talking about Freo were suprised Simmonds was an option because at the start of the year you dont think you will be playing at a regional centre. Whateley decribed Lyon's comments "it dripped with sneering derision".

I have no doubt that the win cut him deep. Real deep.

I sent tweets to Whately last week about his obvious bias and unwillingness to even explain the other side of the argument about the AFL's dodgy finals fixturing rationale. He never replies.

I'm just upset I have uni tonight so will miss his snivelling and whining on 360. Generally I like the show but he has made himself look pretty silly the past week or so.

I'm sure Freo will get the praise they deserve on On The Couch.

I'd say it was more a prediction based on how he's acted previously. I think there's enough evidence that he has a fair bit of disdain for Freo. Having said that (I don't have foxtel) if you find someone so unappealing and offensive simply don't bother with the show anymore.

OK, he could've been more polite with his answers in the post-match, but he had every right to defend his team and his players. Asking journos for their name can be condescending, but have always believed the post-match press conference is not for the feint-hearted. Journos give it, so they have to take it.
