vealsey there is no point discussing it with you, because you are evidently incapable of acknowledging that anything could possibly lie outside of your own frame of reference.

Not that that's a bad thing. Limited thinking is no obstacle to happiness.

You are just a ray of sunshine arent you?

Fine, pretend i said courageous.

You are still a backwards moron.
Name calling Convincing retort

Go back and re-read some of you ranting

Your posting has all the charm and sensitivity of an ally cat

But you dont seem interested in others views ,just that your seen a right and you dont seem to care who you offend along the way

You are right, there. Im interested in others explanations (their own thoughts), not interested in pot shots with no given reasoning.

Ive never given a **** who i offended. In fact the more the better. Which is linked to my next point.

I grew up in perth, im not "from here".

You got that right. Like i said earlier, its a coping tool.

Conviction is not close mindedness.

Pity you didn't have the conviction to jump

I didn't say you were closeminded. I said you were incapable.

Closemindedness implies you have some sort of choice in the matter. I don't think you're ill-intentioned. The way it comes across is that you simply can't grasp the concept.

Which is cool, don't get me wrong. Very few people fully understand the frame of reference of people who commit suicide (myself included). It's really about whether one can acknowledge that they don't understand. Conviction is no substitute for self awareness.

Im very aware of myself, my lack of compassion for suicidal sissys, and my offensiveness to those that differ.

And i have been capable of seeing the opposite view. I find it is weak and debilitating and not worth experiencing ever again.

Dont confuse my cold heart towards gutless cowards as a mental illness.

"Say hello to the bad guy"

Id love to hear about you having that conviction you sad piece of shit.

Go on, do it to your family, im sure you have already tied up all your loose ends, what trouble is another knot to tie?

Still waiting on your input to this thread first though.

Maybe you should publish your note here? Pin it all on me while you are at it.?

I will wee my pants and giggle.

For someone who found themselves in place where they seriously contemplated suicide you seem almost devoid of any empathy for those who have. I guess your shame at being so weak must be overwhelming at times

I am not accusing you of anything except an inability to comprehend that your view of reality is not objective.

What could have been an interesting discussion has turned into a S**t fight.

We should be talking about how we can stop people from feeling they need to take this action.

Why do we not talk about suicide and show those people that they are not alone. This whole idea of hiding this is such an archaic way of dealing with something so serious. When has hiding something ever been good for society.

I regularly see police cars and ambos on the West Gate Bridge for what is clearly a suicide, but you will never hear about it on the news. Why not, people need to know this is going on! People need to see the affect it has on the families and the consequences of their actions. There is no way back.

Because pretend empathy would have made it worse. I prefer the cold hard truth. Not warm fuzzy delusion.

Be a man, face your demons.

Precisely. Instead of bitching and fighting about it, some people in this thread need to wake up to the seriousness of suicide, regardless of whether it is 'selfish' or not.

WTF! Empathy is neither a delusion nor pretentious You live in that cold tower you call truth, because it seems like a lonley place to dwell

The reason specific suicides are not reported that often is mainly because in the majority of cases (quite rightly) consent from the family of the victim is required. In the vast majority of suicides there is no direct public interest in relation to the specific event - no crime has been committed, no trial is to be conducted - so there is no compelling reason to trample on the family's privacy against their wishes. Even if consent is obtained, there are strict guidelines for how it is reported in order to prevent both glamourisation and trivialisation of suicide. There are also tight restrictions on the details that are reported, to prevent 'advertising' particular methods.

There has been a loosening of restrictions in recent years on general reporting about suicide, unrelated to specific instances, and I think that is a good thing. But I honestly don't think that seeing pictures in the newspapers every time someone throws themselves off a bridge will be much deterrent. I imagine people contemplating killing themselves already have pretty fixed ideas about what effect it will have on those around them.
