Medication is fixing mine.

I've never touched a joint in my life, and my mental problems are gradually fading.

But I'll take your word for it Dr. Vealesy.

People who commit suicide have zero sympathy from me, can't handle their problems so they throw all their burden on the loved ones left behind. Rot.
Or they may just have very, very unwell minds.

I think id rather be dead than have your mindset.

Your first paragraph was great talking about improving yourself. Then you throw all that out by admitting you are a drug addict.

Those pills may appear to make you feel better but they will never fix your problems mate. Youve been sucked in to the "mental health industry".

Good luck with that.

Saying I'm drug addict implies I'm hooked on something illicit, which is incorrect, the medication I'm on is prescribed under the careful guidance of professional doctors and psychiatrists.

You might not think anti-depressants are the way to go, but that's your choice and opinion, but I'm fine with the approach of medication and counseling because it's working fine for me.

My guess is you've never experienced serotonin deprived depression before, but I'm going to just leave it at that.

Of course it will fix his problems.

The last thing people need is advice from potheads like you.

You've been duped. The corporations sit there in their corporation buildings acting all corporation-y, and they make money.

Along with liking brett15's post above, I thought the Team America quote would have made such an edit redundant.
Thats terrific to know mate, now carry on with your day.

I think my point has gone over your head. It was a sarcastic way of mocking someone who has no real understanding of the subject.

My girlfriend of five years, with whom I have been living for four, has been prescribed Paroxetine for some time. Even then, she still falls easily into self-loathing, inconsolable funks. It's absolutely heartbreaking. So yes, I'm well aware that even with the medication that keeps her from descending into a hopeless abyss, it's still hard work to keep balanced. It's tough enough trying to be the loving pillar of support who can't actually do anything to bring her back up, no matter how hard I try, yet I can only imagine what it's like for the ones who are properly depressed.

Now read the posts again.

It's easy to be suspicious of anything related to pharmaceuticals, but the administration of SSRIs to treat serotonin imbalances is no less reasonable than the use of insulin to treat diabetes.

Says you.

And delusional.

Prescribed medication are the worst kind of drugs.

Enjoy your life, lab rat.

Yeah, try tellin' that to somebody who's recovered from psychotic depression and probably woulda topped themselves without medication.

Generalisations are crap arguments

Yeh it was a bad generalisation.

Its not so much the drugs I have a problem with, its the ***** prescribing them on a whim. Sure they fix problems, they also create them too.

Just remember, there is no such thing as a SIDE effect.

I agree with this vehemently

So, medication (psychiatry) + positive thinking (psychology) can be used to overcome most types of depression, but there are some extreme manic cases like Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia which are on whole different level of complexity.

Yep, I am a depression sufferer and have been pretty much my whole life. Been through many psychs and I have been diagnosed with BPD, and the only solution I have to apparently 'fix' this condition is Cognitive behavioral therapy, which I have yet to try, I will one of these days but I am very sceptical as I have been on so many different medications and therapies over the years, and in my personal opinion they don't work, well at least not for me. To be honest, meds just make me feel psycho, they do nothing to calm or relax me and they certainly don't make me feel (what I consider to be) normal.

Everyone has different opinions on what works and what doesn't work, and especially with illicit drugs and alcohol. I have to be honest here and say that pot is probably the thing that works best out of everything I have come across, it's a known fact that it has aided those with medical conditions for many moons and yes it can be known to have some negative side affects but no more than anti-depressant medications do.

Can be tough, but for those that commit the outcomes are positive

The only thing delusional here is your ignorant opinion and bigotry.

But I guess you've never taken Panadol, Aspiran, cough medicine or some kind of anti-biotic. Heck I bet you've at least had a drink of alcohol or smoked a cigarette before, in which case, assuming you have done that, makes you just as much of a drug addict lab rat as myself or anyone else - using your logic of course.

Ive taken all those things.

The lab rat comment has more to do with untested drugs being "approved" and released on the populace.
