Not really, coaches need to be there to evaluate performances, set structures/tactics, etc.. I think Sumich has been underrated for a long time, probably due to the fact that his media persona isn't exactly exemplary. However he brings a lot of experience to the table and was part of a premiership coaching panel. Will be a good get for you guys.

Best of luck Suma :thumbsu:
I agree with the bold he came very close to getting a senior coaches gig a few times but it was his media persona that let him down. These days the clubs want the full package as coach. Harvey was a perfect example of this and in the end it cost him.

Nope just the steves trying to turn us into them.

Dont agree with this signing not because of where he has come from but because he just seems like someone who wont be able to get his message across clearly.

:confused::confused:

What's he been doing for the past 11 seasons at the dirty birds then??

Finger painting??

Wonder if Mark Stone played a part in this. Wasn't he the stoppages coach when Sumich was midfield coach @ WC?

I believe so.

All we need now is Watters and Lyon to pull SOS to complete the coaching panel

SOS - defensive
Watters - midfield
Sumich - forward
Stone - Stoppages
Prior - Skills
Curley - ??

Because they are evil and need to be defeated.

I am not 100% sure why he has left but the facts I have seen indicate that he was probably visited by Jesus last night. Jesus after first bitching about the change in jumper, would of said something along the lines of Woosh thinks the devil is ace and Le Cras is French for The Evil Dirty Birds must die.

*Jesus carrying a big fat dirty 6 figure pay check that is probably double what he is being paid by WC.

Good to see the new merchandising sales have paid for all the coaching department improvements.

Enough to placate the Chevron Taliban perhaps?

You must be kidding. WTF would you know how he translates to the players?

Translates is the key word there.

Sure some people would struggle with the media early on, but I think it's safe to say that if you sound like an inbred farmer on TV you'll be the same behind closed doors?

Some of the more inbred, uneducated farmers that I know are also some of the smartest people that I have ever met.

Take my father for examp....

Oh wait.:o

He's a footballer, I'm sure he can speak football to footballers.

Speaking football to journalists is a whole other bag of footballs.

Let's make sure the goal posts are in the right place, keep our criticisms on the mark and make the most of our increased rotations, it's a solid hard get for the club, with the points on the board and if you're still not happy, I don't give a ruck.

Sumich should straighten us up going forward.

For the first time in a while, I feel like we're taking a hard professional look at running a football club. Then the season will start and we'll find out how it went.

Supporters ridiculing this decision need to give Sumich a chance for 3 reasons.

1) Sumich has been either playing or coaching at Subi for the last 20 odd years so he is familiar with the ground and the structures needed to succeed.

2) Sumich was midfield coach during the dominant period in the 00s and was their forward line coach in the year just gone where they implemented one of the most impressive forward line presses and a very even spread of goal kickers.

3) Mark Stone is close to Ross Lyon and no doubt Stone would have been consulted as he worked with Sumich closely for several years at WC (Stone was the stoppages coach and Sumich was midfield coach). Stone would know his abilities far more than any of us.
