Speak for yourself. Very disappointed he is leaving. Those dockers fans with half a clue will be very happy with this appointment.
I for one am delighted.

Getting a a solid assistant from a successful program (which really WC are) and who has history in the Freo area.

Grab Scott Waters if he misses the Saints job and I'm stoked!!

Help - I am not sure how to react?

I think I'm happy - AFL experienced coach, however I also smell Chardonnay.

You should feel happy - it's a decent pick up for Freo.

Great for my material too. :D

Pretty impressive press conference

Said he was always a Freo boy and wanted to come here one day

Was very excited by what Lyon presented to him

3) Mark Stone is close to Ross Lyon and no doubt Stone would have been consulted as he worked with Sumich closely for several years at WC (Stone was the stoppages coach and Sumich was midfield coach). Stone would know his abilities far more than any of us.

At first I was shocked as anything and not overly impressed, but I've mellowed out now.

That point by Kenny is a good one and I'll go with that. On the emotional side, I see it as a bit of a home coming - he's a South Freo boy through and through and the family are legendary in the Freo/Spearwood area. Had close ties to the family growing up so I can't speak too badly of him/them, but he has always had such a dim public persona which as others have said can put you off, but he's got a lot of solid AFL experience under his belt and a good sporting/footy brain that shouldn't be dismissed too quickly.

firstly im not sure how to take this. i had a serious anti man-crush on suma, definitely my most disliked assistant coach... however there is a reason we went after him and his results cant be faulted... i guess the most impressive thing out of all of this is the fact that we are chasing and getting the personel that we want.

would have ross lyon had a bit to do with this appointment? i would have thought so... well atleast i hope he did
This post is a thing of beauty.

Also feeling a tad conflicted here.

He must be good I guess, he's been part of a pretty successful era at the eagles and from the sounds of it they were trying to keep him. For all the crap we give the eagles they do seem pretty switched on when it comes to appointing competent people.

So my head tells me it's a good appointment, but even so, it still feels a bit... wrong.

Yea, the interview is worth watching for all sorts of reasons. What caught me was the passion that he seemed to capture from Lyon - it really does have a good vibe all 'round. I really hope the players lift on the back of it all and give us some sustained success.

Check it out if you haven't already.
