Back in 1999 or whenever it was it was illogical to think Leeds would play League One
To be fair I predicted they were headed for the financial shit on here when they were in the champions league semi final.

What they were doing back then required qualification for latter stages of the champions league just to break even, and their costs were increasing all the time.

Yeah, I'm sorry, your point is completely flawed in it's basis.

At no point can a PL club get anywhere near damaging it's bottom line (Like Leeds) in the current climate without completely breaking the FFP rules.

Considering your wage budget has to be in line with your commercial revenue, excluding TV, of which, TV revenue probably accounts for 80% of turnover for most PL clubs, I can't envisage any scenario apart from gross negligence (and a 3-4 year transfer ban) where anyone can possibly go into administration from their wage budget with the current TV deal.
You can spent TV money on wages, it's just that you can't increase wages year on year by more than £4m plus increases in commercial income. This was Leeds problem. They were making a small profit (or small loss I can't remember) when they were getting £18m a season from the champions league. Their wages were set up so that as long as they continued to participate in the champions league they weren't in any problem. It stood out out me at the time as they were continuing to sign players, and a lot of their contracts were backended. They were gambling on revenue increasing.

Of course they missed out and all of a sudden there was a hole in their accounts. They had to sell players on big discounts, often continuing to contribute a percentage of their wages even thought they no longer player for them (apparently Danny Mills was one of their highest earners while he was playing for Man City).

Interestingly Leeds would have been bankrupt before they failed to meet the current FFP rules.

Jod said that Leicester couldn't afford 100k a week for their players. One of their players is currently on 100k due to them winning the league. People rightly called him out on the lack of logic he was displaying.
I was clearly arguing that Leicester wouldnt be able to compete with big clubs for wages, whethers it's 100k, 150k whatever.

But hey, think what you like. I know im right so it's all gravy.

It wasn't everything. The comment was that we couldn't afford a 150k wage for Kante. We can.

jod23 and I are alright though, I certainly don't have anything against him. Just merely discussing his point.
Yeah it kicked off between everyone else. Jatz believes his club can compete with the big boys for wages. I disagree. Simple as that. No harm done.

Good luck to Leicester. If we cant buy Kante then I hope he stays at Leicester. No real need for Mahrez and Vardy is too old.

I wish Leicester nothing but the best, what a story.

No, I don't think we will double it for Kante. I said we could if we wanted to. That's factually correct.
Ok, if you think so.
You don't think they have the money?
You know you're right, hey? You didn't say they couldn't offer Kante double his current wage of 50k, hey?
