Apparently that was the first time Australia has ever won a test while losing only 3 wickets for the entire game. They've won while losing only 4 wickets before, but never only 3. Source: ABC radio commentary.
Interesting.
3 wickets vs 20 (with some runs in small change) really is a shellacking, isn't it? Their bowling line in the first hour yesterday was mystifying, to say the least. They were feeding that leftie's favourite zones, as Ponting pointed out astutely on Ch7. I'd like to hear him commentate the whole day's play; his insights are very interesting.

OK, I can buy that... there's also short repeated running whenever he's backing up at the non-striker's end.

That means singles equate to 1.5 runs, 2s are 2.5, and 3s are 3.5. Not unreasonable. Unfortunately, cricinfo doesn't have that level of breakdown, so I'll have to make some assumptions. Assumption: 1s, 2s & 3s are scored in the ratio 5:2:1. Run-throughs are not required when scoring a boundary.

So.. total runs scored by running between wickets = 173+118 = 291
Total 1s: 182
Total 2s: 37
Total 3s: 12

Total extra distance = 2310m

Factoring in run-throughs, we're now up to 9,730m. That still leaves us more than 50% below CA's total.

Surely he didn't run 10.5km just backing up the dot-balls, at the non-striker's end?
Are you applying for a high school Maths teaching gig?

AFL players run out 15-20km per game in 2 hours. So seems about right that Warner ran 20km for the 5 sessions that he played. The amount of fatigue and sweat on Warner's face looks roughly the same as an AFL player after the match, so therefore, by the process of assumption, Warner ran 20km. There's ya proof!

Well Warner was probably not match fit given his lack of running during the Ashes... ;)

WTF? That's really dumb, even by your standards - and you have a history of posting some really silly stuff.

Imagine if Adelaide Oval doesn’t get to host India.....

Adelaide should be one of the only guaranteed Tests. We got 90+k to a 4 day test in the rain....

I’ll riot if we get stuck with Afghanistan or something.
Hopefully it doesn't become like the AFLs attitude towards the Crows

Our fans will turn up anyway so get given shit opponents / shit timeslots

Whereas Perth and Brisbane need the leg up

Adelaide was #3 on the list, behind Melbourne and Sydney. I suspect that Perth has now jumped Adelaide, with the new stadium.

Either way, Brisbane is ranked dead last of the 5 major test match grounds, and is currently in danger of falling behind Bellerive and Manuka. Brisbane's attendances have been appalling for a long time now, which is why they're constantly getting the B-team visitors (Pakistan this year, Sri Lanka last year).

Adelaide consistently get bigger crowds than Sydney.
