That was a bullshit review. They missed the hot spot on the toe of his bat which was the spike, there was no hot spot on the bat.

He hit the ground well before the ball arrived

You couldn't see the edge so they couldn't use hot spot

There was a massive spike as the ball passed the bat and it wasn't near the ground by that stage

We have been through this discussion before that the shorter form of the game is irrelevant to Test Cricket...

Warner's technique is not good enough outside Australian pitches as he is no good on a pitch that isn't easy to bat on.

You can say that for non-established players, but Warner has proven to be a Test player for a good 2-3 years prior to the sandpapergate. He was our second best Test batsman behind Smith if I recall correctly.

I guess it’s a matter of opportunity and time will tell.

No, Warner has proved to be a consistently poor Test cricketer outside Australia.

Once again you refuse to look at the telling statistics as you again confuse the white ball with the red ball.

Warner only averages 34.5 outside Australia in Test matches v 59.6 in Australia. He is the definition of a flat track bully who is useless if the ball has any movement. It's why he is suited to the white ball as usually on batting friendly pitches like today.

Those home and away averages could be used for any modern cricketer, an average of 35 outside Aus isn’t horrendous either.

All gun players who performed well overseas as well as in Australia & didn't have a huge discrepancy between their home & away form.

Warner is a flat track bully who is an ordinary test player outside Australia.

Would be interesting to see how it would result if we take away the poor stats from the recent Ashes series. One decent 50 and the other innings were basically no-shows.

All legends of the game and only one actually still playing, so completely missed the point.

Has played some good innings overseas too, just not as consistently as here which is why he won’t go down as a legend like Smith.

Outside of Smith and Kohli, what are the home and away averages of the other Test batsman in the top 20?

No player claiming to be a gun averages half away compared to home!

We can't just pick a player for home games, so we need to consider blooding someone who has a better technique for overseas conditions.

He was actually in fairly poor form before sandpaper gate. He managed to make starts but couldn't go on with it.
Having said that if give him 2 tests in Australia but that's it. If he can't score a 100 time to move on.

South Africa are about to go through similar pain.

Amla, Steyn, Morkel, De Villiers retired plus most of the next tier gone on Kolpak deals.

Break it down a bit further and it's not fantastic.

Averages 63 in South Africa, 63 in Bangladesh, 60 in UAE.
Averages 27 in Sri Lanka, 27 in the West indies, 26 in England, 24 in India, and 13 in NZ.

Apart from South Africa, that's an unimpressive road record.

I would be interested to see those stats for batsman outside of the big two to properly judge those figures.
