OK, I've been searching the net for proof, and can't find anything specific. I need help!!!! I've made a bet, and there's money riding on this.

Can you help???

In what order are the medals presented in the Summer Olympics?

If you know the answer, do you also know a site I can go to prove it?

Thanks guys. :)

what do you mean?????? at the medal ceremony who gets their medal first???? im pretty sure it goes bronze then silver then gold, but i could be wrong. And i'm not a hundred percent sure thats the question your asking.

from memory, the gold gets up first, then silver and bronze, cos the gold guy/girl is already up to shake the others hands

try and find a video of a ceremony from cnn or something

Really? I can kinda picture the silver and bronze medalists reaching across the podium to shake hands, and the gold's not there yet?

ok i just looked at a video from the olympics and yeah its bronze, silver and then gold and then they play the national anthem of the gold medal winners country.

THANKYOU DEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

It is a strange one! I remember at the Summer Olympics the gold medal was awarded first, but watching the Winter Olympics, it was awarded in the reverse order.

Can anyone name the first Australian male and female to win an Olympic Gold medal?

Was Edwin Flack the first Aussie male? Seem to recall reading about him somewhere.

Female, not sure, a swimmer methinks. Fanny Durack or something?

i remember them saying the other day though that this is a break from tradition in that they are presenting the medals bronze through to silver

Correct! Edwin won gold in the Athens 1896 Olympics.

Our first female gold was Marjorie Jackson!

The Edwin Flack effort at the Athens Games was a notable one.

Not only did he win the 800 and 1500 metres races but he also competed in the Marathon as well as in the Tennis in singles and doubles!

Allow DCFC to pontificate:

- the order of presentation has always been Gold, Silver and then Bronze.

- E Flack won two gold medals in 1896, but he was only competing unofficially for Australia - the Australian and New Zealand athletic associations had decided not to send teams. If you're being absolutely pedantic about it, the first medalist (and gold medalist) representing Australia was Freddie Lane at Paris 1900, winner of the 200m freestyle (and later the 200m obstacle race).

The first female medalist and gold medalist was Sarah 'Fanny' Durack in the 100m freestyle in Stockholm 1912.
