When is Falcao joining United? I want to know WorldCup2022OZ
If you must know mate I haven't been posting much recently because i've been busy running the household. We are expecting our second child end of july.

Fair enough, but I also wonder why you didn't stick the boot in of certain posters who claimed that Suarez' position at LFC was "untenable" at the start of season 2013/14 and that LFC had "no choice" but to sell him. I don't think you once had a dig over that. As for Falcao, there were plenty of rumours that the original deal was done as a loan to avoid FFP but like any loan deal it can be backed out of until it is complete. It became pretty clear as the season unfolded that Falcao was finished as a player (cannot understand why chelsea want to go anywhere near him) and that United would have backed out of any loan to buy agreements.

On a positive note, fantastic news and congratulations mate, boy or girl?

There is difference between stating club X has no choice but to sell (opinion) and saying club X must sign player Y (passing off as fact).

Boy. And it wasn't passed off as a fact. Just starting what I had heard from a friend who supports United and lives over there.

Milner is a solid player and a good signing for Liverpool and is best 11 for them. No shame in that.
Agree. Although not sure if he fits in our best 11 when Sturridge is fit. He certainly won't displace Coutinho, Sterling, or Henderson in any of their positions in midfield.

I presume you're referring to me again, you seem to bring this up every couple of weeks.

This is actually what was said.

Suarez' position at Liverpool is about as close to untenable as it gets. Unless there is a total backdown I don't see him staying at the club as a viable option any more.
A bit of a difference.

FWIW his position at Liverpool was as close to untenable as it gets, he was made to train with the reserves, giving half arsed performances in friendlies and was agitating for a move through the press. There was a backdown and everyone moved on except it seems your good self.

Congrats on the new addition (to be).

Couldn't see Milner being a regular (week in week out) starter at United, Arsenal or Liverpool (unless he's been promised game time).

Good player to have in a squad, and will do a job when he gets his chance but I think all of those clubs would be looking for a bit more from their regular starters.

Was it a 4 year deal? If so I'm not particularly comfortable with that considering Milner's age. Makes Skrtel's new contract offer all the more puzzling. He's been as solid as a rock for us and generally doesn't get injured. We should be offering him a 3 year deal with a modest base salary increase and incentive based bonuses.

I heard he was chasing 4 years.

Wouldn't be a big concern as he's naturally fit, professional and doesn't have any pace to lose. Could see him playing to a high standard until his late 30's. Skrtl contract seems a bit much, I don't particularly rate him but he's probably your best defender atm and is pretty durable.

Might not have any money left after paying Milners sign on bonus and wages. :)

Sakho is a much better defender but isn't durable like Skrtel is. Stupidity from FSG with Skrtel's derisory contract offer.

Have a look at last years world cup threads when more than a few posters thought he didnt deserve a place in Englands squad.

I could give you quotes but I wouldnt want to embarrass certain individuals.
Happy to do your work for you!

Hart (Foster, Forster)
Johnson, Cahill, Jagielka, Baines (Walker, Jones, Smalling, Shaw)
Gerrard, Wilshere, Lallana (Carrick, Henderson, Barkley)
Sterling (Chamberlain, Milner/Welbeck)
Sturridge, Rooney (Lambert)
My position on him at the time was that he was a decent and very useful player but that he hadn't been playing often enough, mainly being used as a late sub for City that season and not having all that big of an impact, so I couldn't find a spot for him in the midfield group. For me it came down to either taking 4 strikers (Sturridge, Rooney, Lambert, Welbeck) or dropping one of them and taking Milner as a 9th midfielder, which I thought was excessive. I had him competing with Henderson, Wilshere, Lallana, Barkley, Sterling & Chamberlain for a spot. Doesn't mean he isn't/wasn't a good player, just that those guys were all coming off better seasons/had the runs on the board.

In the end Hodgson took 9 mids, 4 strikers, and only 3 reserve defenders, leaving Johnson as the only recognized right back in the squad, which was unorthodox and something I obviously didn't predict. For what it's worth although he's coming off probably his best season for City my position on Milner hasn't changed all that much since then. He isn't a match winner, but will prove a useful sigining as he adds solidity and is capable of providing cover to a high level in a number of positions.

FWIW (and I know I go on about him playing on the left) but the left side of a midfield three or a front three is perfect for Milner. Gives Moreno a lot of support (which he needs) and he pretty much does the job of a midfielder and defender at the same time. Playing behind someone like him would improve Moreno's game no end, and would give him the opportunity (and licence) to use his abilities going forward a lot more.
