Absolutely you do.

Not the PL. Just something.

Who's career would you rather? Buckley or Voss?
Mmmmmm I would Argue that point.

Some clubs will never win anything - It would be impossible for them to have legends then.

Alan Shearer for example. Newcastle legend without winning a thing with them.

Le Tissier obviously. Definite legend.

Of course Voss but Buckley would still be considered a legend of Collingwood. On that theory Matt Spangher could be considered a legend but Buckley can't.

Was about to say something similar Shoei :)

Not every club can win honours. I think if a player gives his club a decent period of great service and the fans embrace the player (or manager) as a 'fan favourite', that is more or less enough to be a IMO. I suppose it really depends on the criteria fans use when classing players as 'legends', 'icons' or just 'fan favourites'.

Legends come in all shapes and sizes. Keegan and Sir Bobby didn't end our elusive wait for a trophy but will almost certainly be revered unanimously by Toon fans for example. Gutierrez may not have been the most celebrated player to pull on a Toon shirt but over 200 appearances for the club (including sticking with the team during our relegation and helping get us back up), his well documented triumph over cancer and then making it back into the team will probably see him remembered fondly by fans for years to come. Similarly, Shola Ameobi may not have been the most prolific striker the game has seen but his record (and title as 'the Mackem Slayer) in the derby against the Scum will most likely ensure he remains a hero in the hearts of the Toon fans long after he retires.

Every club has its share of heroes, fans will remember players who represented them with distinction or provided exceptional loyalty or service to the club.

Going back to Lloris, only Spurs fans can probably make the call but I'd think he wouldn't be considered a legend (I stand to be corrected by Spurs fans) given he has played less than 100 games for the club and didn't pick up any player major honours (player related or/team of the year awards etc) while at the club. Maybe he will be a player the fans will remember fondly but maybe not on the same level as some of the biggest names in the club's history.

FWIW, someone like Sheringham (IMO) would probably be considered more of a 'club legend' despite (IIRC) not winning anything significant whilst with Spurs.

I hate you all, so there :D

I was mostly thinking from my club that our legends are the ones that have actually won something. I guess it's different if you haven't won anything as a club.
Would you say Cambiasso or Vardy or any of those guys don't have the potential to become legends for keeping you up?

Plenty of people who support clubs who have won stuff are saying the same thing so it's not just a Hull thing.

Soo... does that mean League 1 and Championship count as well? Well then, it seems like Andy King secured his legend status a lot earlier than I thought. Maybe Vardy too.

On another note, holy crap, you're right on that front. At least for us, all of our legends did win something... except Cambiasso (What? I know it's a year, but come on!)

Oh, speaking of... I know we've heard nothing more so far, but at this point in time, the report is that Cambiasso will not make his decision until the players come back from holidays. It is either us or the MLS, but the club seem confident that we'll get him with a coaching role for next season. Pearson obviously wants to train up his own set of boys to have an impact in the future.

Huth is likely the same in regards on when we'll hear something. In fact, I would disregard any other sources at least until July.

At this point in time, until something is officially confirmed by someone, expect nothing until the very last moment, like with Fuchs. Now I know what I said is truth in all cases in regards to transfers in, but with Pearson, silence is golden. We won't know until we see the news.
