Fair enough. Does it make you legitimate title challengers from that transfer alone?

It's an interesting one, that's for sure.

It sounded like Martinez was a certainty for Milan a week ago. Now he seems to be an Atleti player.

Milan just isn't the destination it once was.
Until Milan show any form of stability I wouldn't go near them, It's sad but it's the truth.

I think we are targeting the wrong players in this market, We need to target 3rd position before we target the Scudetto and latter stages of the champions league.

We should be building for the 2017/18 season IMO, But what would I know I'm just a fan. :)

Arsenal need a consistent goalscorer and match winner in his own right in that CF position before I'd put them into legitimate title contention.

For me Giroud is a very good footballer, but he's a function of the players behind him in that he only tends to play well when Arsenal's midfield is playing well. They need another striker who can create something out of nothing to dig them out when they're on the back foot. The sort of player that will get them points even when they don't deserve it. You look through every side that's been within touching distance of the title in recent years and almost all of them have had a player with those sorts of qualities leading the line.

When you're talking about the top end of the table, for me it's the most important position and more often than not it's the thing that differentiates the sides that finish 1st/2nd from the ones that finish 4th/5th.

Arsenal certainly can't match Chelsea or City's squad if everyone is at their best but they're close enough to be a real challenger. Some will probably argue City's isn't better but still think at their best(a big if) they're better.

However Arsenal have certainly moved closer to the top teams and further away from the ones behind like United, Spurs and us imo.

I don't know why you have to point to keeping errors to estimate how many points a keeper would save... I didn't realise every keeper in the league had the same save %?

He won't get them 12 points over a season, but even if he gives them 3 or 4, who's to say that isn't the difference between CL football and no CL football? Or automatic CL qualification or even a close title race? Talk about whether Cech will win anything for Arsenal is pretty pointless if you're looking forward.

But most people agree that Arsenal have just spent about 11 mil on a player that will improve their squad and win them some points over the next few seasons. Rare to be able to say that about a player going to a top club. I mean, that's what Fulham paid for a now 28 year old McCormack in the Championship to put the fee in perspective.

Really good buy and any talk of resale value can get stuffed.

More Schneiderlin to Arsenal talk. Should Arsenal get him along with Cech/Aubeyamang would see them as challenging for the title IMO and ahead of City.
IMO arsenal need a schneiderlin, or vidal

So do united, even with bastian

There were rumours arsneal missed out on Benedikt Howedes

1. Cech
2. New cb -Benedikt Howedes replacement? Laporte?
3. Vidal or schneiderlin
4. Aubeyamang

They'd be a very strong squad
