Why do people think Rodgers is good at signing players. All signings but Sturridge and Coutinho have been underperforming.

Mignolet and Sakho have performed well. Joe Allen was excellent until his shoulder injury last year and has been decent this season if not at the same level he was pre-injury.

Aspas was a big miss but cheap and Alberto/Ilori are too young to decide on. Borini spent pretty much all last season injured then found himself behind Sturridge & Suarez and has had a good season for Sunderland but as it stands has not been a good transfer for BR.

I think BR has done reasonably well considering the constraints he has worked under in the transfer market. Yet to buy a massively overpriced dud which does help.

Liverpool wont be spending 140 million in a Window.

If Suarez stays no they won't but they should sell him and get three-four 20 million rated youngsters. Micah Richards will come cheap...it can be done the math is plausible.. We have some good kids coming through the academy and think Borini, Suso and Wisdom will be in the squad. Just hope we play our cards right but if Suarez is sold potential up to 140 million to spend in a transfer window is possible. King Kenny went crazy three years ago.

Exaclty, we were never going to replace Bale, the disapointment is how far short we came.

Liverpool would have to be nuts to sell Suarez

I wouldn't say never sell Suarez. If we decide to we need to do it properly and buy replacements before we sell him otherwise we'll go on a spending spree and blow it. Happened with us and so many clubs over and over again. SAF got it right when he was careful with the Ronaldo money when many United fans were demanding high profile signings with big transfer fees.

That's the exact logic that Spurs followed and look how that turned out. Not sure why you'd give up the best player in the Premier League for uncertain returns.

Not sure Spurs is a great example. First the replacements were bought seemingly without reference or the support of the manager. Second they had the management upheaval in the middle of the year. And if they win their last two very winnable games they'll still end up with the same points they got last year with Bale in the team.

I look at someone like Atletico who replaced Torres, Aguero, Falcao etc and grew because of it.

But it all depends on the player IMO. How keen they are to leave, how much they are prepared to kick up a fuss. Keeping Suarez worked for Liverpool this year, but there are many examples where it hasn't worked.

Technically you could get 70 million players for 70 millions dollars.

there is no way or how that you would be able to replace suarez with a bunch of names picked off fm

Screw you!

Mateuze Ortola, Armin Rewan Mohammad and Admidu Sakifu would all slot straight into Liverpool's starting 11.

Liverpool should take the 70 mln and re invest in three young quality players rated 20 mln.. mmmm Markovic, Veratti, Ginter & Aurier will do me fine + the 70 million likely to be given to Rodgers for being inactive in last transfer window accumulated with this one. So Volland, Shaw, Micah Richards, Will Huhges, and two, three others... selling Suarez if done right is the cash-ola.
Havent we learnt this lesson by watching Spurs this season. You cant replace world class with a bunch of players.

We wont be selling Suarez.

Well this thread will be open during the window so we shall see. Rodgers goes for young technically gifted players....I'll be happy if Suso, Borini, Wisdom are included in the squad and spend big on Markovic and Shaw only.. But we should be able to afford it three new commercial sponsors in four months plus chmapions league revenue should be easy enough for Liverpool to afford also finishing third in premier league nets you 30-40 mln in prizemoney.. other than Suarez, Sturridge, Gerrard, Johnson and Agger the rest are on very reasonable wages because they are so young. I'll be surprised if we wont recruit at least five topliners & two world class players.

Spurs are not a good example they are cursed. Manchester United (Valencia, Vidic, Nani, Evra, Hernandez and Kagawa) came from the sale of Ronaldo, Atletico got Godin, Luis, Costa, but they do have Saul and Oscar in their youth system..I'll take them.....

Im sure there would be rotation but he wouldnt get in the team in front of Gerrard, Hendo, or SASAS. So it's just Coutinho he is fighting for to be that creative outlet in midfield.
He'd eventually take Gerrards spot. I'd have him ahead of Coutinho in any case and just rotate the two of them.

How would Lallana take Gerrard's place? Lallana cant play as deep lying playmaker/defensive midfielder??

Lallana will be much further forward, battling with Coutinho. Coutinho has more pure talent and is younger and improving all the time, Lallana is a good player but will find it tough to crack our starting 11. But we will have a lot more fixtures next season so like Lucas, Allen, Suso etc, he would find opportunities to play.

If we sign him at all.

Why Shaw? Could get Rodriguez much cheaper and he is arguably better.

I meant his squad spot. You'd obviously push someone else back into Gerrard's role. Lallana is currently better than Coutinho imo. Not saying Coutinho won't end up better, just at the present time I think he's better

He could be right now but the more games Coutinho gets the better he gets, much like Sterling, we want to play these guys to max out their huge potential.

He wouldnt get Gerrard's squad spot because when Gerrard eventually loses his place in the starting 11 it will be for another DM or DLP. Not Lallana who cant play that role. Lallana will be battling with Suso, Sterling, Coutinho and maybe a player like Konoplyanka if he were brought in.

I think Henderson plays all the time regardless as nobody has his skill set and he is uber important to how we set up and play.

No point in Liverpool doing that.

No I agree, I guess under the scenario that a mammoth bid comes in for Suarez (lets say 80m) - you'd think they will want to replace him.

Definitely a little "fifa world" but just a thought
