Sagna and Arteta weren't exactly slouches, and we all thought Ozil would be a game changer for them. Like I said, Arsenal have never lacked quality footballers. Will these new signings inspire that fight and mental edge that Arsenal have lacked since the days of Henry & Viera? Who knows, but in my opinion that continues to be the barrier to success for this club.

Arteta is a slouch. And that team did just win a major trophy last season. The belief in that squad could only be heading one direction, surely.

Anyway, not the thread for it. I'll pick this back up whenever we get a preview thread happening :)

Khedira is a very good player, but I would have thought Arsenal need a deep lying CM rather than another box to box which Sami is.

Been pretty happy with our last two windows. Added a couple of pretty decent CMs, a RW, a young CB, a LB and a striker. Pretty much all the areas we needed to strengthen.

Word is Ashley is wanting to secure Janmaat (who is reportedly making his way to Tyneside for a medical) before sanctioning the sale. Seems to be learning from his past mistakes about making sure a replacement is in place before selling (see Carroll & Cabaye).

Any idea what his Chelsea wages would be like Kizza? He was on around $50k a week with us and almost certainly would have got a nice bump upon joining Chelsea. There's been talk we want to bring him back (though his wages might be a stumbling block).

I think I'll have to pass on the 'Ass(pass)' buddy - I'd probably have him in all honesty given our lack of options but having a guy with a surname like his would just be inviting all kinds of banter from those pesky mackems down the road. :p

That being said, if you guys were interested in a straight swap for Obertan, perhaps something could be arranged ;)
 
Has anyone seen the live transfer blog on Football 365? The F365 account is just taking the piss out of the idiot comments that people are putting forward. Love that website. Reports all the terrible rumours and then publicly mocks the source.

Rumour we were in for Charlie Austin. Which idiot comes up with this shit?? At least make it believable.

Pretty sure he's on around 80k a week.

Besiktas are apparently saying the rumours are crap.

Also Egyptian defender Ahmed Fathi (100+ caps) is having trials at the club according to his agent? Was on loan at Hull but only played 9 games. Sounds like a typical Wenger gamble.

Reports everywhere claiming a deal has been done for the Columbian world cup keeper David Ospina. 3m pounds is the number being quoted.

Thing is he was easily in our Best XI by all reports, the fact that our owner brought him in rather than Bruce meant Bruce wasn't a fan of his. In the one and only game he started for us he starred but ended up costing us the goal that won Wolves the match. So I actually do rate him despite his appearance stats at City. Not Arsenal's standard however, with that being said.
 
Signed & sealed. Always get excited by these sorts of deals, similar feel to the Coutinho signing. Young, raw, bags of talent, and no-one really knows what his ceiling will be. He has a few flaws as most players his age tend to have, but having seen the immense improvement Rodgers has been able to coax out of our other youngsters over the last 2 years I'm sure he'll be able to turn this kid into a diamond too.

Wickham apparently has rejected a new contract offer from Scumberland and with rumours Ellis Short (of class) their owner is looking to sell the club, maybe Connor is looking to jump that sinking ship ;)

(anyone in their right mind should when you're only business in the window has been adding supreme talents like former Wigan superstar Jordi Gomez and West Brom maestro Billy Jones on free transfers as well as Pantilimon).

Interesting chef...We apparently are keen on both Remy and Ba (plus Rivierie) and Arsenal apparently were unwilling to pay the 80k Remy is looking for (surprising because I believe he is actually on $100k at QPR) hence we might try and tempt him by investing in the squad (though I suspect he still wants UCL football).

Would Chelsea loan/sell Ba to us and pay a portion of his wages? If so, that might increase our chances of going in for him.

We apparently had a bid rejected for Ings so remains to be seen if we look elsewhere or go back in for him.
