Easy to score when someone puts it on a platter for you. Not saying that's all he did but goals + assists is greater than just goals imo.

van Persie didn't really have things put on a platter for him in the year where he scored 30 and won POTY. Fabregas and Nasri were already sold, and Wenger replaced these departures with the likes of Gervinho, Park, Santos and Benayoun on loan. Wilshere also missed this season.

Rosicky had an excellent back end to that year, but generally RvP's opportunities were provided by the likes of Song (who provided some decent lofted assists), Yossi, Arteta and Walcott and a raw Oxlade-Chamberlain etc. This wasn't necessarily on a platter type service.

Fabregas was magnificent and strung together a greater quantity of good seasons and Arsenal, I was gutted when he was sold. But in terms of quality, I'm still of the view that van Perisie's final season was the best individual football we've seen in an Arsenal shirt for quite some time.

Liverpool to throw the bank at Benfica Winger Lazar Markovic seen some highlights looks ok
Bit of talk Chelsea has first option.

As the story goes he'll be at Benfica for 2 seasons before joining Chelsea if good enough for around £12.5m.

Arteta has created **** all at Arsenal.

It was all Walcott, Song and Gervinho (at times).

everton will be completely fine if they decide to go for bony. could probably save a few quid too. for me right now bony's a better player, but lukaku has the potential.
Very similar players imo. Both have games where you'd swear they weren't on the pitch. Their best is quite good though.

What would Bony be worth?

15-20 mil i'd say. he's as good at finishing as lukaku, probably a bit stronger and his link up play is so much better, which is where lukaku struggles big time. also doesn't fade out in games as badly as lukaku.

Apparently we'll be bidding up to £20m John Stones. Looks a talent.

There's also the Ramires+£20m for Vidal, but I aint believing that. Way to good to be true and Juve aren't that dumb.

Lol you're ok with 20m for stones but not 30m for Shaw?

After we just purchased Zouma it doesn't make a great lot of sense to me(plus there's Christensen who's of similar age and talent to Stones). Didn't say I was OK with, just that he looks a talent. Was just regurgitating whats reported.

I'm not cool with spending 30mil on Shaw for 2 reasons, he's not better than our current LB(Azpi) and IMO there's a couple of others available who are better and cheaper(Rodriguez and Moreno) if we are looking to buy one. Plus we have Bertrand and PVA who can be back up.

30m and 100k a week for an 18 year old LB is ridiculous if true.

not really. that's eventually going to be what prices are for players going forward. he's english, he's the best left back in the country, and he's young. barkley, if sold, would go for a similar amount, if not more.

Shaw is better than Azpi.

To much money for me.

£30m and £100k a week for an 18 year old Ashley Cole would have been a bargain even back then. Comes down to scouting, if United think he is going to be as good as Cole, then £30m is worth paying.

FWIW I wonder who is doing all the recruiting at United. They've never really worked with a DoF, and Woody doesn't have the football background. Fergie still pulling the strings? Or the new manager?

Good question.

I think plans are already in place and if it's the players mentioned already we'd be stupid not to continue down that path.
