Hopefully Mourinho is true to his word that young players will be given chances in the first team during his tenure. I really hope Kalas' performance yesterday is the catalyst for more youngsters to get a go in the future.

New striker is the obvious one for Chelsea. A passing midfielder is needed to play next to Matic/Luiz. Ramires is shit (and a campaigner), Mikel is pointless and Lamps is pretty much done at this level. Maybe Toni Kroos would be an option and Oscar drops deeper into midfield.

Chelsea need a striker and a midfielder more than anything.
Their midfielders in my order of quality (different players, but in terms of usefulness and quality)
Matic, Luiz, Ramires, Lampard, Mikel

The last three aren't good enough. One can be retained for depth, possibly even two but Chelsea really need to find a player to compliment Matic and Luiz imo. Luiz and Matic are good defensive midfielders and Luiz is a good ball player. But Chelsea need a more creative, box to box sort of midfield presence. Who there is I have no idea.
You are missing van Ginkel from that list as well, who before his injury was getting a reasonable amount of game time.

Had heard we were in for him as well. Not sure I'm overly keen on him, it's not really an area we need to strengthen.

Only heard about us and Palace, but as you say weird for you to be linked. He looks like he's been progressing well, wouldn't mind him.

Major papers all running with Lallana to Liverpool. I think he and Konoplyanka would be superb additions to our attacking/midfield options and are exactly what we need.

They have a small squad with limited resources. One or two sales could bolster their entire squad.

You think they will sell there best players? I certainly don't, not unless teams are going to overpay a fair bit.

Money talks, players walk.

This is the reality of mid-table - lower table clubs. Get a hot young player, sell based on potential off a good season. Rinse, repeat. put the money back into to squad.

You can try and hold onto these players, but there's only really 4 clubs in the league that can spend outside of this model.

Probably five.

Current top 4 + United.

And maybe Spurs to an extent.

Hey if Arsenal wish to pay to 20ish million that Everton will ask for then so be it.

Remember watching him in a youth cup semi years ago. Stood out a bit then, and has always been pretty decent when I've seen him. A good solid 6-7/10 player every week. Would be useful to have in a squad IMO.

I think if he does join he would be solid enough, still fairly young (24 I think) and would be a pretty handy squad player with PL experience. Just worried if he will be Mike Ashley's 'Cabaye replacement'

Your boy Remy was shocking this morning too NUFC Tiger

What's the deal with Ben Arfa and Coloccini?

Remy probably a bit underdone following his lengthy stint in the treatment room but probably being brought down by the general poor form/morale of the players around him sadly.

Pardew doesn't rate Ben Arfa - his logic is to 'play squads that he believes are capable of winning games' - If Pardew somehow keeps his job, Ben Arfa will most likely be sold on. Has gone alarmingly backwards under Pardew (like a lot of our players).

Colo's got some off field issues - his family returned to Argentina last season and I think being away from them and not having his pal Gutierrez around anymore, he's struggling a lot (not to mention captaining a side getting booed by the fans and trying to unite a seemingly fractured dressing room).

Sad state of affairs at the toon :(

Regarding our options at full back, I've read a few rumours that we're looking at Dortmund's Marcel Schmelzer, along with Ricardo Rodriguez, Marcos Rojo and a few others.

If we end up with a team like this for next season I think we'd be pretty well placed to compete both domestically and in Europe:

Sell: Reina Coates Kelly Coady Adorjan Assaidi Aspas
Buy: Rodriguez Lallana Konoplyanka

-----------Mignolet------------
Johnson-Sakho-Agger-Rodriguez
-----------Gerrard-------------
------Lallana---Coutinho-------
Sterling---Suarez---Konoplyanka

Subs: Jones Skrtel Enrique Lucas Allen Henderson Sturridge
Depth: Wisdom/Ilori Toure Flanagan Texeira Suso Alberto Borini + youth players
