Word is Ashley is wanting to secure Janmaat (who is reportedly making his way to Tyneside for a medical) before sanctioning the sale. Seems to be learning from his past mistakes about making sure a replacement is in place before selling (see Carroll & Cabaye).

Also Egyptian defender Ahmed Fathi (100+ caps) is having trials at the club according to his agent? Was on loan at Hull but only played 9 games. Sounds like a typical Wenger gamble.

Hard to say at this point mate, so many rumours around about what we are doing about the third striker squad spot, about the only guarantees are Costas going to be the man and Torres will be hanging around for at least another season.Interesting chef...We apparently are keen on both Remy and Ba (plus Rivierie) and Arsenal apparently were unwilling to pay the 80k Remy is looking for (surprising because I believe he is actually on $100k at QPR) hence we might try and tempt him by investing in the squad (though I suspect he still wants UCL football).
Would Chelsea loan/sell Ba to us and pay a portion of his wages? If so, that might increase our chances of going in for him.
I hope that means we're chasing him hard. Haven't heard anything further from it but I would love to have him at the club.Wickham apparently has rejected a new contract offer from Scumberland and with rumours Ellis Short (of class) their owner is looking to sell the club, maybe Connor is looking to jump that sinking ship
(anyone in their right mind should when you're only business in the window has been adding supreme talents like former Wigan superstar Jordi Gomez and West Brom maestro Billy Jones on free transfers as well as Pantilimon).

We apparently had a bid rejected for Ings so remains to be seen if we look elsewhere or go back in for him.
Why is he holding last years kit?Signed & sealed. Always get excited by these sorts of deals, similar feel to the Coutinho signing. Young, raw, bags of talent, and no-one really knows what his ceiling will be. He has a few flaws as most players his age tend to have, but having seen the immense improvement Rodgers has been able to coax out of our other youngsters over the last 2 years I'm sure he'll be able to turn this kid into a diamond too.

That, and the endless stream of Dr. Evil "frickin Lazar" puns that are going to come over the next few months.
Really hope he makes his way over and think he'll be pretty good for Newcastle at RB (more defensively than offensively). Will have to make Newcastle more of a priority team to watch with their growing Dutch contingent; Krul, Anita, now Siem de Jong and possibly Janmaat. I'm not convinced on how de Jong will go, particularly after the failure of Luuk. Whilst different players, Luuk has typically been seen as the better of the two (until recently anyway).

Fair enough. Don't get why Lazar would agree too the photo though.Journalist who took the photo said that he met Lazar, had the kit with him and thought it would be a good photo op. It's not an official club photo.

Usually he'd just wait until being unveiled by the club.Because he's about to join us? The photo is from his official Facebook page

Thread is going beautifullyYes, exactly! That's the kind of pointer I need. Tell me more, fatty!

Yeah, I believe the word is we are looking closer at the Dutch market this window (as club's in France are getting wise about our business of trying to find 'cheap talent'). Apparently part of the thinking has been to try and keep Krul happy - by increasing the Dutch contingent, Hiddink will likely have to keep an eye on us which should enhance his chances of wrestling back the gloves from Cillessen.
I think Luuk really struggled from being an out of form/lacking match sharpness player being played out of position in a struggling team in the second half of last season. I would have been interested in going back in for him but apparently Gladbach wanted too much and he ended going back to Holland with PSV I think. With a full preseason and his brother on board, reckon he could have been a decent addition.
I'm super keen on Siem De Jong though, seems like a great leader and professional. He's already been made a VC with Tiote under Colo so the club obviously rate his influence and leadership. He has also said he wants to aim for the CL so (despite maybe being too optimistic) has given the fans a clear sign of intent he wants to see the team playing to its full potential this coming season. From his highlights package, seems to have that great Dutch technical ability and a great burst of acceleration. He will almost certainly be played as our number 10 behind a striker with Cabella likely to play more wide.
That's the perfect role for Siem and if he is to succeed, it will be have to be as a no 10 behind the stiker(s) (others managers have been sucked into playing him box to box or out and out striker and whilst competent in the Eredivisie, it doesn't suit him). I agree to an extent on Luuk and hope you are right. My worry is that the quality of the Eredivisie has declined a bit lately and players (particularly forwards) who have done well have gone abroad and failed to flatter (including Luuk). In the 90's and 00's, just about every player in the Dutch league that did well would go to bigger clubs and have good and often great careers. Now, it seems only the absolute cream are forging decent careers elsewhere. However, the competence of the Dutch based players at the World Cup (though mostly defenders) have allayed my fears somewhat as they seemed to more than hold their own against the World's best. Hopefully Siem fits that category and copes well with the increased physicality and speed of the Premier League.
Bahahahahaha hope it's true. This looks like it's going too be another good summer like year, United lel!"The 26-year old Chile international was subject of a £32 million bid from the Red Devils, however, Van Gaal has decided not to go ahead with the deal as Manchester United failed to meet the midfielder’s demands."

Pardew has mentioned he'll be looking to De Jong's creativity to help unlock defences this coming season (something we sorely lacked after Cabaye was sold last season). He looks competent on both feet and seems to be able to hit them from distance quite well too! I doubt he'll need to play as a box to box mid either with Tiote and Anita and now Colback able to do the grunt work and let the classier Siem and Cabella and hopefully Ben Arfa do their thing further up the ground.
Read this article a few days ago from one of the local papers that I found quite a good read! If Pardew fails to impress early in the season and Ashley cuts him loose, De Boer wouldn't be a bad replacement to add to our growing Dutch group

Interesting point you made about the strikers though, after Van Persie, Robben, Kuyt and Huntelaar, who are the next crop who'll need to fill the void in the coming years? Hopefully Luuk can refind his form at PSV and the Wolf can produce a better second season in England (some players can initially struggle adapting to a foreign league).
Ok how about I write it like this...Remember when comments like this ruined the thread as it started pointless arguments?
How about not being a ****.
