Harry Maguire, Sheffield United CB who is 21 gave a quote yesterday saying "It will be a dream playing in the PL and Europe at this stage of my career."

Known teams to be after him:
Hull City
Wolverhampton Wolves

Hm. Wonder where he's keen to go.

Bahahahahaha hope it's true. This looks like it's going too be another good summer like year, United lel!

"The 26-year old Chile international was subject of a £32 million bid from the Red Devils, however, Van Gaal has decided not to go ahead with the deal as Manchester United failed to meet the midfielder’s demands."
Funny. I read that United and Vidal had come to an agreement but that United didn't want to pay the amount Juve were asking.

I also read that Juve are looking for other clubs to get involved so that they can get as much coin as they can?

Silly season is silly.

If they are willing to pay Rooney 3ook a week then I cant see what Vidal could be asking for (I doubt he would be in that wage bracket) as United could easily double or triple whatever he is on at Juventus.

I would think Juventus are looking for a big big fee that is making United blush. Remember that will FFP and the Premier leagues own financial rules clubs are going to have to be very cautious with what they can pay.

De Boer would be a great get IMO - been written off a number of times but just keeps coming back and winning titles. Obviously managing a side that is a class above most of its opposition (unlike the situation at Newcastle) but still not easy to achieve a 4-peat! in 4 seasons as manager. Just knows how to keep winning.

Dutch strikers are thin on the ground at the moment. There is Bast Dost (25), who like Luuk, was top scorer in the Eredivisie (about a goal a game) and got snapped up by a Bundesliga club (Wolfsburg) but has stagnated whilst there, getting less and less game time. Then there is Jeremain Lens (26) who is a regular at Dynamo and was part of the World Cup squad. More of a winger who can play as a striker, he is athletic but just doesn't have the class of his predecessors. Memphis Depay (20) is also a winger who can play as a striker and looks like he could be a good player but is much more comfortable on the left than up front. Marvin Emnes is one of those players who you always hear the word potential for, but is now 26. He has just signed on for 3 years at Swansea but has stiff competition for a starting place. De Jong (23) was perhaps the most promising of the lot but you know his story all too well. I don't hold much hope for the Wolf, who is unlikely to succeed in England IMO, especially at a club like Norwich (where all strikers struggle).

Obviously there is also a bunch of kids for whom it is too early to tell.

Certainly is far cry from when I was growing up when following van Basten's reign as the best player in the World, Bergamp, Kluivert, van Nistelrooy, Hasselbaink, Makaay, Venegoor and then van Persie, Robben and Huntelaar were all running around. Hell, we had top scorers of major European Leagues (EPL, La Liga, etc) who could hardly crack a game at National level.

De Boer would be a great appointment if he was interested in trading regular silverware and champions league football for a new challenge. I think (perhaps biased) we have a bit of potential to break into the top bracket once again if we can get the right manager in getting the best out of a squad that has some talent in it. Galtier (from St Étienne) has also been mentioned perhaps due to our French links - if Pardew is to be replaced, I'd prefer a manager from the continent than an English one personally. De Boer would also have the advantage of being able to ensure De Jong is utilised in his best position.

The Dutch situation is pretty interesting though. After a great WC, it looks like you guys could be possible contenders at the next Euros - but as you mention, it seems strikers is the big concern at the moment. Thankfully you're producing a lot of attacking midfield talent though - that might help lessen the absence of a 'big' name striker to get the goals. You could always try Spain's false 9 method and play a mid up top and hope you're midfield ultimately proves too strong or rely on that famous Dutch precision at set pieces!

Krul in goal with Anita, Janmaat and De Jong also in the side and I think you guys will be hard for anyone to beat :D

Feck it, next target please, looks like LVG has pulled the plug on Vidal now as well.

Does Fellaini have a brother?

Does Fellaini have a brother?

Indeed he does - his name is Gabriel Obertan.

Please feel free to put any offers in for him! At Newcastle, we're all about letting brothers be at the same club together :p

I thought it was Eric Djemba Djemba?

With Shaw and Herrera that would make close to £100 million pounds all ready.

Kitty was rumoured to be 150m.

There are more articles suggesting we are in for him than not, don't be so melodramatic. That article is meaningless.

Read an article that says Barca only paid 64m for Suarez, words to that effect from the president.

On my phone so can't link it.

They also lied about the Neymar fee so I wouldn't get too excited

I've read that it's about that much up front with a view it could/should rise to £75m.

On another note Liverpool have been linked with a £44m bid for Rues. However I have read another article distancing themselves from the bid. Oh the silly season

I couldn't care either way.

I personally hope Barca paid overs.

Yet your the one who brought it up
Well it was relevant.

Am I not allowed to post Liverpool related news without kop knickers getting in a twist?

Football tribalism, so pathetic.

Yes you are, I just pointed out you must care to bring up. Am I not allowed to point out stuff without posters getting their knickers in a knot?

No I don't care.

I posted it because I saw it.
