Ryan always kicks it so shallow. Right near the wing. Why not just go to the boundary? Why are we the only team that do this?

Prob is our best contested mark and the guy most likely to force the ball over the boundary is Treacy but he was behind the ball. It worked a few times during the season but caught up to us today. In the end it's a probabilistic thing.

Suns shouldve had it in the bag earlier but for their goal kicking. We only turned up in the last.

In the end it was Frederick being a dumb cnut in front of goal arguably being the difference. We play keepings off with 2 mins to go when we don't have the players who can kick like Brisbane

All in all, an alright year, 16-7 was enough for top 4 last year but yeah I dunno.

Thoughts on the last 3 mins.

• Treacy going back was a massive backfire. Did we think that through?
• Milking the clock was the right strategy but inexcusable not to be able to at least tie the ball up on the wing or get it out of bounds.
• Cox was unlucky with the tackle on Swallow. Probably not much else he could do in the circumstances.

Other thoughts:

• Not thrilled with losing but GC were the better team for most of the night and we probably weren’t going much past next week anyway.
• I’ve often defended Freddie but I’d be very nervous about him lining up in a Grand Final.
• As a team we are still well short of being the finished article.

Honestly have no issue with that free kick. Have more issues on how we played after Jackson’s goal to go a goal up.

Deciding to review the goal with 9 seconds was ridiculous, we pretty much dug our own grave there.

Would have been better off taking our chances from the bounce and trying to cause a draw.

We played alright and lost, well done to Gold Coast. Tough way to go out, but we played out of our skins to a) be playing tonight at all, and b) to be anywhere near winning the match after half time.

I expect the pain to be quite motivational for the group in the coming years.


Loved the games from Pearce, Reid, Serong, Young, Treacy and Voss.

Erasmus played quite well without tearing it apart. Couple of nice kicks and a great goal. Brayshaw put up some good numbers but impact a bit lacking for mine.

I thought Clark, Frederick, O'Driscoll and Jackson were quite poor. Jackson ok/good around the ground but the dropped marks were a killer at crucial times.
