Absolutely. I hope Geelong win. I like the coach and players. Can just shrug my shoulders and say, oh well, they won it again.
I absolutely hate Geelong for being good but I'd definitely still prefer Geelong over Pies or Hawks.

Can't see Brisbane having the cattle to get it done from here. Only other hope is Adelaide sort their shit out or Gold Coast.

We need a medium forward who can mark, win a ground ball & pressure. The 3 talls is not sustainable unless one of Darcy or Jackson are not available.

Treacy, Voss & Amiss play the role of 2 players & get the stats accordingly. Too often the ball goes in & comes straight back out because we are 1 short at ground level. They looked far more dangerous in their F50 when the ball hit the ground & were far more effective & efficient.

They had 3 players between 186-190 who compliment their 2 talls, we had Frederick at 183 complimenting our 3-4 talls. We need to change that because our pressure in F50 will not win us a premiership.
I would love us to get another lobb type fwd that can be our bail out kick down the line and leave Treacy as a deeper fwd he’d kick bags if he had a deeper role

I do have a sneaking suspicion that Suns could go all the way this season. They were really really good at competing through finals pressure (particularly for such an inexperienced side). If they demolish the Lions next week then I think I might be correct.

Wouldn't be a horrible thing to lose to the eventual premiers.

Oh god. I hope not!
If they did, it’ll be another team that wins a GF before us that joined the competition after us 😩 that is the reason I hate Port so much 😂

Go Brisbane next week!

I felt like we were beaten by Rowell. I’m only a mug punter but why, when NOD & JOM are contributing nothing don’t we switch one of them to a hard tag?
I sat right behind the goal tonight and watching from that angle every time GC won clearances or turnover ball they had players wide of the contest to move the ball laterally by hand then outside runners ready for the kicker to hit up and move it quickly.
I remain utterly baffled by our complete lack of strategy to move the ball from the back half other than a bomb down the line.
That & the amount of shallow entries to the top of the 50 had me pulling my hair out.
GC were the better team & deserving of the win but we played a terrible match until Q4. No dare, no run, no desperation.
Extremely disappointing way to go out.
Johnson tagged him last time - perhaps he should have had that role again tonight

I am devastated. And I am gutted for Fyfey.
But I have to say that was truly one of the best endings to a game I have ever experienced.

If we were going to go out in any fashion, then I am glad we went down swinging and fighting until the very last second. That it was part of a record breaking once in a lifetime fairytale-finish made it all the better.

This year has been one hell of a rollercoaster. I was so lucky to be in attendance and witness some of the greatest football our club has ever produced. Seeing Murphy Reid kick multiple GOTY contenders in person, witnessing Voss run the length of Optus stadium, being at the MCG and beating the Pies by 1 point, going to Marvel for the first time and watching the boys absolutely blitz the Doggies in the second quarter.

The fightback was sensational. The crowd was amazing. Pearce is a god damn good captain. And holy **** do I love football.

talk about every possible advantage, **** sake. yeah would love to see the team that pays their players outside the salary cap win another.

This might be silly but I think the player who could be the biggest game changer for us is Johnson. We are so slow in the middle it's not funny. Rowell burned us off that many times, and it's a common theme for a big, burst mid to kill us when we lose. Young in there consistently will help size wise but he's not quick, I pray Matt Johnson puts it together because he is big, strong, and quick and we need that badly.

yep agreed. literally just had a conversation with dad about that. johnson away from developing into a star = premiership.

I just don’t get how you guys aren’t numb to it. They’ve made 10 prelims in 15 years. IDC how much they rort the cap their a team that has been successful for as long as I’ve been watching footy. I feel absolutely nothing seeing their fans experience joy again because that’s been the same forever. It hurts so much more seeing a new group of fans experience success before we do again

It's funny when they were reviewing that ball earlier in the game as to whether it hit the inside of the point post (throw-in) or not (behind) I thought what if that's the margin difference at the end of the game.

Does Treacy go back in defence because that's what he does when the game is on the line, or did Hardwick send Andrew forward?

Kind of felt like scoring again when we were a goal ahead with just under 3 minutes to play might have iced the game, but we played for possession defensively when maybe we could have taken more ground, and then eventually when we released the ball Uwland took a fantastic pack mark on the wing coming in from the side. Uwland and Powell were the 2 players who really stood up for them in their D50 in the final quarter..

The other thing through the whole game I thought is that GC were cleaner with handballing under pressure - getting it out of a contest situation, where we put out some loose handballs that stifled breaks.
What I saw from behind the goals was Treacy go back. I don't remember seeing Macandrew.
It also unsettled the back six trying to match up with Pearce trying to arrange things.
Then the ball got chipped around then got to the centre wing where noble marked drove it fwd when Mac Andrew suddenly appeared. So as far as I'm concerned Treacy initiated it. And MacAndrew followed him down after the bounce.

We had a good year. 16 wins which is enough for top 4 most years. Unearthed two legends in Murphy Reid and Pat Voss. Had some stirring away wins. Fwdline began to click for the first time under Longmuir. More positives than negatives overall.

Tonight we paid for our failures in 2023 and 2024. Had we made the finals those years (like we should've) we'd have had the experience to draw on and overcome the Suns despite playing below our best. It also really highlighted the difference between a "good average" coach and a truly great one in Dimma. His ability to get the Suns up for this game and not be overawed by the occasion was pivotal. I am genuinely happy for the long-suffering Suns fans and will be barracking hard for them against the Lions next week.

We have a captain who has openly talked about struggling with nerves in big games. He still struggles. Sure he came good in the last. But was poor to rubbish for the rest.

Combine that with a coach who can’t seem to get us up and we play a lot of catch up football.

the lack of finals experience is telling. As is our need to make some big calls in trade week and at the draft.

One thing I noticed from watching the last 2 mins was that the final centre bounce landed about a metre outside the circle to Witts’ advantage but was not recalled. Darcy had no play on the ball at all.

Went to a scrimmage, finally released by hand to Rowell who scrubs the kick forward.
people around us complained about that too

Was is straight after the Jackson goal? There was a 6-6-6 warning against us at the next centre bounce.

It's something that Treacy's done that's worked in the past - so it's just one of those things. I saw a clip of him in tears in the changeroom. I thought he had a good game and took some strong contested marks.

Serong has to be captain next year.

In a night of hundreds of what if momebts, speciual mention to the shithouse umpiring from the moment Andrews levelled the score was. That centre bounce should have been retaken, it went out of the circle. Then Swallow takes possession so it was a legit tackle. Cox was very unlucky.

We didn't deserve to win but probably should have

Genuinely can’t believe that some of you see how hard we have to work to build everything up on our own from inception and you’d still be happy watching a team that has been given every advantage possible from the AFL win a flag before us
It doesn't bother me one bit.

Sure we hard little resources from our start up in 1995.

I always have bemoaned on our lack of sustained finals run, especially from 1995-2010.

But you can't deny we have shot ourselves on the foot in some situations

that's incredibly sad - glad I didn't see that

Yes.
Feel for him. He played with a lot of heart.
