Don't agree it was very even at all. I feel they were probably unlucky not to score more heavily in the first half with a lot of repeat entries whereas we did our best to let simple skill errors destroy the smaller amount of chances we did have.
They were shit entries though, part of playing well and being on top is not having shit entries. To further my point. The expected score was 82 Freo, 76.6 GC.

Serong has to be captain next year.

In a night of hundreds of what if momebts, speciual mention to the shithouse umpiring from the moment Andrews levelled the score was. That centre bounce should have been retaken, it went out of the circle. Then Swallow takes possession so it was a legit tackle. Cox was very unlucky.

We didn't deserve to win but probably should have
I think the goal they got when Witts just barrelled Darcy out of the ruck contest in their 50 and Witts didn’t even touch the ball was more egregious.

Watching the replay of the Swallow free kick and I didn’t realise how border line it was. Swallow has possession and just dropped the ball when tackled. In saying that watching it live I thought it was a free kick.

Also Freddy I have seen enough, definition of a down hill skier I have never seen a softer Freo player and we have had a few.
We were very stiff

1st tackle we stick all night and we get pinged holding the man

Honestly deserved to lose that.

25 scoring shots to 19.

Dominated for near 3 quarters.

Came out of the blocks like a maimed sloth on ketamine.

Half the team's hands covered in butter and the rest apparently not even wearing studs.
We were hardly dominated apart from 15 minutes of the second quarter.

If it went into overtime who was in a better position.

Were we or suns finishing and running out the game stronger

Amiss is a real worry. 2 disposals is very poor despite his off ball work.
Collins killed him early both strength wise and beating him to the drop. if he can fix either of those things he will improve.
You play him higher and he gets more ball but can't kick a long ball so he isn't a goal threat.

It's a tuff one. Just have to persist with him.
Voss has gone way past him too.

It's a ****ing tough loss and it bloody hurts but it was really not that bad.

We lost by 1 point to a team who's stacked with talent, a 3 time premiership coach, and have been top 4 all year.

We've won more close games than anyone else and played it exactly how we've played it time and time again this year. People can question the coaching at the end all they want but it's proven to be successful for us all year so why would we change it?

Win or half that one contest down the wing and it's a whole other story. One ****ing moment.

We come 8th with the 9th best Percentage.

These are the cold facts.

Hurts more today, even with the beer and watching the Wallabies incredible win.

Elite sport is so often just the tiny moments.

We also won 16 games.

We won 16 games in 2022 with a much more experienced list, and the bottom teams weren't actually all that different compared to this year. Literally 3 extra wins between them all and a much weaker 7th and 8th place.

Frame it how you want to frame it.

Lmao..nice try..wasn't exactly what he said

He did mention losing two contests in a row with the mark on the wing the the Mac uncontested mark. This was a contributing and pivotal moment. We win the contest on wing and we prob win the game
We win the last two clearances and we win the game as well. No one will mention that though because people will just look at the stats sheet and say what a great game "the leaders" had.

7th team better than us. A lot of crap clubs in the bottom half of the ladder.

The top sides don't see success because their fans froth at the mouth over a loss and shit on all their players after a game. Clubs that do that implode (see Carlton). Are you forgetting that the Pies didn't even make finals last year?

Do you think your angry rants on bigfooty get read out at board meetings? "Oh well Swanny1234 is unhappy with our season guys so let's sack JLO and pull a successful hardnut premiership coach that is both available and willing to move to Perth out of thin air"

Something that is proven to work (in football, workplaces, life) is SUPPORT. Embracing people for who they are and the strengths they have (and that can range from a coach that is meek and mild like JLO or soft spoken and never played high level football like Fagan to BIG CHEST Vossy or even to the annoying mosquito fleet at Hawks).

Freo have been making impressive in roads regarding culture on and off the field. The people that are there want success, perhaps even more than you or I. The Lions hadn't seen success (in recent years) before big names started to request trades there. But they built an environment people wanted to be in and contribute to. We are in that part of the cycle now.

I am devastated we let our opportunity slip this year. But I also firmly believe the club is heading in the right direction. The success WILL come.

Hard agree. This stuff about fans “accepting mediocrity” leading to the club failing is the biggest load of horse shit and it’s getting tiresome hearing about it. Fans foaming at the mouth does zero. Get a grip.

Is the club going to send out an email apologising for that failure of a season? Or have they given up even pretending to care about supporters?
Yeah would that make you feel better? Do you want them send someone out to give each member a kiss and a hug and get on their knees and beg for your forgiveness?

Sounds to me like the team had a heart to heart after the St Kilda loss and decided that we needed to play more as a team rather than individually.
Then we start winning and so if teamwork is No.1 priority, you can’t really change the team when it is winning.
But by the end of the season you get players like Walker and Simpson who can’t get back in because they weren’t in the team during the winning cycle.
Would have liked to have seen at least Walker getting back for the likes of Banfield. Not that I think Banfield is terrible, just that he makes the odd bad mistake that a seasoned defender wouldn’t.
