On the last minute free - I dont like using the umps as an excuse at all. But that was a horrible free to pay, when you consider the context of the overall game at that point.
The ump that called that knew he was basically handing victory to the suns with that call. It’s a monstrous punishment for a marginal free.

It’s the consistency that is maddening. 2 weeks ago v port, in the last minute Mac Andrew was challenged in an IDENTICAL manner by a port player inside 50 in the last minute of the game but no whistle.

The non recalling of the last centre bounce was also a poor decision inconsistent with the others this season.

Not the only reason we lost but very frustrating.
Remember Rankine non decision, AFL wants the Suns success.

Helps if our mids could hit a spot up kick to him.
Yes there was one I watched where he made about three leads. It was Brayshaw who ended up hitting up Dudley but if Dudley ran back to goal like all the Suns players you could forgive Amiss for being frustrated. He was free on the lead twice I counted and that happens numerous times every game.

Literally had posession when he ran into Cox. He dropped it because his arms got caught in the tackle. You just can't pay something like that to decide the game in the final when it so easily could've been called the other way.

I thought it was there but marginal. There was one exactly the same involving Bolton earlier in the game which was not paid. On Kayo they replayed the Bolton holding on tackle three times so felt it was a potential non-call.

That HTB against NOD was frustrating came after about 3-4 non calls. The commentator bless his soul said it was like one of those coffee cards where after four non free kicks (ie coffees) the umpires awards a free coffee (ie HTB free kick). In saying that I remember at least once JOM trying the fend off only to drop the ball and no call made. The inconsistency is next level.

To be fair the rule has a lot of complexly.

AFL are fine with this because they can influence more games.

Thought the insufficient intent free paid against , think it was Banfield in the second quarter was identical to one not paid against the GC in the last on th opposite side of the ground
The umpires couldn't even agree with each other other on th first one
jus outlining one of many inconsistencies by the umpires, unfortunately we seem to be the ones who cop it,

This loss is on the coach. Team selection was wrong. Walker or Johnson should have come in instead of NOD. Not making any adjustments when Rowell was destroying us and GC continually kicking goals out the back of the pack. Fyfe subbed on way too late. Waited too long to let the players open the game up and take it on.

Saying that, you can't play 1 quarter of football and expect to win. We also really shouldn't have been in the contest at half-time.

I've said it for months but Freddy can ** off. Downhill skier of the highest order. Dumb as a bag of rocks. Pace merchant who does ** all with it.

I want us to refuse to play any left footer that has no right foot. I'm sick to ****ing death of NOD and Banners continually getting themselves or teammates into trouble because they can't use their right foot.

Ras showed once again he has it. Re-signing him is key this off-season.
Longmuir said that though Johnson played for Peel the week before, he played limited time and was still having problems with his ankle. Wasn't ready.

For a senior player / leader JOM was a disgrace. Worst on or thereabouts as a midfielder playing the whole game. Disgusting and should be delisted. Shouldn’t have been playing all year really, his one achievement has been to delay Ras getting a game and possibly leading to us losing him.

Freddie doesn’t deserve the complete whipping that he’s getting while JOM gets off scot free, again. I do think we have issues with Freddie but I can at least appreciate he has some very good games for us, whilst JOM was terrible last night and has been floating somewhere between barely serviceable, to sub-par or terrible his whole Fremantle career. He just flies under the radar most games picking up 9 or 10 possessions in the midfield being invisible whilst others cop more slack by putting themselves out there to make mistakes.
Cannot be best 22 next year. The guy is well past it.

End of the day it's just a game you are watching played by strangers.
Not particularly convincing from a bloke with 83,000 posts in almost 20 years on forum created to discuss strangers.

It's obviously a lot more than just a game for everyone on this board or we wouldn't be here. If it were that easy to disinvest then i bloody would've a long time ago believe me.

Everyone is invested. That’s why we’re all hurting. It doesn’t hurt to step back for a bit and realise that ultimately it doesn’t matter, and at the end of the day it’s we’ll all get over this and come back again next year and ride the highs and lows again as we do year in year out.

There’s only ever going to be one group of fans in finals that don’t end the season in heartbreak. You’re going to be disappointed a lot more seasons than not.

He leads far to early which may be a tactic to open up the 50 a bit, he is also very slow to react, constantly beaten to quick entries.
Spot on
Constantly running under the ball

Telling sign was Noble taking a mark lace out that was intended for Amiss after starting his run from behind him
Noble Just read the ball better

Someone needs to get in that kids head in the off-season, scrape out all the goo and just drill him like a soldier
He’s got the tools , needs some serious mental and tactical coaching

Have to agree JOM is a great clubmen/person but his lack of pace is a killer , time to make the tough call

Obviously I'm invested, was screaming at the TV last night and quite disappointed today.

But again it's just a game, there's a level of perspective.

I feel like the club has always had a complex where the fifth worst player gets away with it because there’s always someone worse. There needs to be a serious look at a large portion of the list, they are not improving and have reached their peak and that peak isn’t anywhere near high enough.

To me it's simple.

Sometimes getting close is 'worse' or at least more obvious than doing nothing.
Omeara holds up strong in a contest and would always put his head over the ball ... Some weird reason he's not in many contests (as a wingman - he goes nowhere near the ball, but neither did many others this year).

Freddy on the other hand often gets to a contest and bails. Or does something silly. For anyone watching on tv or following the ball (99% of viewers) this sticks out a lot more than someone not going near it.

Pearce was extraordinary in the last quarter last night. Even kane Cornes was gasping in disbelief at how good he was in commentary. There are many valid reasons why we didn’t win but he’s bloody well not one of them.

I’m only guessing from your posting history here but I suspect you have a dislike of Pearce and his political stances outside of footy that has led to a disproportionate level of criticism from you towards him after defeats. Have noticed you call out AP a lot after defeats and it simply cannot be for football related reasons only as there’s at least 12 guys worse than him in that team. At least.

I don't care about his political beliefs at all. There are some people on this site who I would disagree on a lot of things politically who I talk to and can enjoy being friends with. Your thoughts about politics are what is wrong with the whole ideological divide over the last two decades. One of my business partners would vote differently to me almost every time, yet we are very close friends. He comes to my kids birthday parties and me his etc etc.

Now to the point about Pearce. I notice you haven't engaged with my argument, which I can only assume is because you don't have one. He was very good in the last quarter. He was poor or worse in the first three. This isn't a one off. He has admitted to having therapy for problems with nervous starts. He still has those problems. He comes good in games where the team throws caution to the wind in nothing to lose mode. He goes to water in tough contested games against good teams.

I call him out in some wins and the occasional loss. When asked I have provided video evidence of his kicking and we have him on record admitting his issue with the start of games.

Now we are past your nonsense of presumed knowledge, can you answer these questions:

1. Is it predictable that Pearce struggles early in big games?
2. Has he spoken about getting therapy to help with that very issue?
3. Is he the captain of a club who struggles early in big games?
4. How do you rate his first, second and third quarters?
