Blackburn 2 - Chelsea 3
Arsenal 2 - Man City 1

I watched the first half of the Rovers v Chelski match, Blackburn came out firing and could have been 2 or 3 up early in the match. Chelsea do look a very classy side though.

As for the Arsenal v City match, well worth watching the highlights. Yet another Henry wonder goal, and several controversial incidents. Anelka ended up getting sent off late in the match trying to get the ball off Ashley Cole after we scored. Pretty entertaining stuff, and after being frightened by the quality of the Arsenal side in the first half, I am happy that we made them work for their win.

Dwight Yorke - hopeless. FFS Souey, start Paul Gallagher. He made a dramatic difference when he came on, scoring twice, albeit one being ruled offside.

Our centre of midfield was anonymous - lacking Baz Ferguson.

One positive was the new signing, Michael Gray. Looked very comfortable in defence and very able at making runs. Looked prone to playing the long ball, but he looks like a good signing.

Hopefully Martin Andresen can come in and make a difference.

Pretty sure Gray crossed it in and Babbel headed it down, but I could be wrong.

No you are right, I just saw the replay.

I've got to cut down on the prematch drinks I think, Babbel and Yorke are not really the two players I would normally expect to confuse. ;)

Johnson's was world class - and in the conditions! By the time this lad finishes up he'll have close to 100 England caps.

What do they feed the lads at West Ham's youth academy??? He's still only 19!

The actual strike was, but what did Henry do in the leadup?

Johnson's lead up work and finish made it world class.

even that is debateable. he struck it in such a way that it curved perfectly away from the full stretch keeper. if he meant to hit it like that, then i would say the strike itself was better than henry's. but they were both great goals.

As well as the timing and importance of the goal in relation to the match and title race.

And also Johnson is mainly out there to stop goals, not to score them, Henry is paid to score goals. So that, as well as the importance of the goal and the lead-up/finishing make Johnson easily better then Henry's.

Sorry GeordieRoo :p

I thought Johnson's goal owed a lot to luck, whereas Henry's was just all class.

I'd be very happy to have scored either of them though. It's pretty hard to separate the two, I suspect neither will end of goal of the season.

By that logic any goalkeeper who scores any type of goal sould win goal of the season

Luck ????

he trapped the Ball, played it inside the defender and then curled it past the Keeper.

Sorry can't see where the Luck came in ???... please explain ;)

If any goal-keeper could kick a goal as good Johnson's then I wouldn't have a problem with that. But I never said it should win goal of the season, all I said is it was better then Henry's goal.

Don't appologise mate, your mistake!

I'm going to have to quite the good people at East Lower: "Henry's goal. Did anyone else pick up on the fact that the ball was radio-controlled? It shimmied left before straightening out in order to avoid James. You can't do that with a foot. Only with military technology is that possible."

That's right.

I am assuming it was Johnson that tried the flick over his head, something I bet would come off for him once or twice out of ten times he tried it. If it was someone else that flicked the ball over the defence through to Johnson, it was a decent but run of the mill goal IMO.

Can't agree with that at all.

Henry has shown over and over again that he is capable of that sort of goalscoring effort. Johnson, IMO fluked it.

The goal I most equate Johnson with was Bergkamps of a few years back. In that case he controlled it beautifully, and finished beautifully. You could see that he knew exactly what was going to happen from the second he got the ball. I can't say the same for Johnson goal.
