If everyone knows who is in then at least he has the guts to not hide behind an anonymous name and make a statement about a topic. It does seem that there are 2 sets of rules here and with Irymple being crucified by the league. If 1 gets suspended then they all should get suspended.
I would think that the Irymple admin would share similar thoughts as Delray and would hope that they have voiced this opinion to the league.

This site is for free speech about topics in this league and if individuals can't comment on about what is effecting their team then there would be nothing to write about! The SFL board has no rights and can bring no repurcussions to what is posted here!

All this free apeech stuff is very noble but that doesnt mean that it wont piss the league and other clubs off. A few coaches that used to post here dont anymore.

I reckon it is great that Delray says waht he thinks and even better that you all know who he is. Everyone is always saying that people shouldn't hide behind aliases etc on here and he isn't. He has an opinion and from what I can tell from afar and being someone who has never met him it is close to the mark every time

Can anyone come up with an alternative plan for inter-league games.
Do players have to play?
Should it be under 23?
Should it be optional for senior players over a certain age?
Should players volunteer to play?
Any thoughts?

With the results we have got over the last 4 or 5 years proves that the system the SFNL has at the moment is working.
I would probably would agree though that it should be optional for senior players (over 30 say) but then again you want your best team to play.

The sunraysia football league should place a $500 bounty on the head of every player selected in the inter league squad. If these players don't do the right thing by the league, then the clubs will forfeit the $500.I can guarantee that the clubs will then pass this fine back onto the players responsible by with holding match payments or whatever. The league would then get money into the inter league coffers, players would be held accountable, and there would be no more debacles like we have just witnessed in the past fortnight. Simple really.

Yep Gazoo i think your right on the money hear. The SFL need to incorporate a win win situation and a financial fine is by far the best way to do it in my opinion. $500 May be a touch steep but it think somewhere between 250 to300 would be resonable.

Benifits are players are not forced to play but i cant imagaine to many would just cop fee therefore the SFL will field top sides.

If a player makes himself unavailable the fee is paid (by the player not the club) to an interleague fund which could offset the costs to play the comp. Or heven forbid shout a couple of slabs or pay for dinner for the people that play.

Clubs and supporters benifit as the best players of the league arnt forced to miss footy. I Know it would not have changed the result on saturday But having Donato playing would have been better for the game which is played under the SFL brand.

And to Hill.............ill be sure to run every thing by the league and the club prior to posting and just so you can sleep easy ill also go via the VCFL. I mean i wouldnt wont to post anything that some1 else doesnt like!!! Last time i checked Big Footy was a forum where both sides of football issues can be discussed. If you dont like it dont read it.

Players sign contracts to play with their club, not to play for the league. What right does the league have to fine players for choosing not to play? If this system were in place it would be the clubs coughing up the cash because I'm sure players that don't want to play also don't want to have to pay not to play.

Every player that plays, including reserves and U/18 players, sign a registration, not to their club but to the VCFL and the league that they want to play in. If you don't sign this then you don't play at all.
Interleague is a great concept and everyone that was involved in it this year and also for the past 5 years have done a great job getting sunraysia football's name back to what it should be in country Victoria, if the league goes soft on issues like this then we will end up back down the bottom of the leagues again.

In my post I specifically said "contracts to play for the league" not "play in the league."

Forcing players to play interleague is a rather dictatorial way of getting a team together. People in each community know the relative strength of their league regardless of how well the team goes in an interleague carnival or one off match. The need for the leagues' best players to play against their will reeks of the whole "my dick is bigger than your dick" mentality between leagues.

Playing for the league should be an honour. Not something you can buy your way out of.

Santoz, you are correct that players sign a registration with the VCFL which entitles them to play in a particular league.
Club contracts have nothing to do with inter league requirements.
All players are liable to play inter league, if they have a fairdinkum reason for not wanting to play they will be excused, end of story.
Interesting to note that Ariel Steinberg who kicked seven goals in inter league has been selected in the VCFL U19 Country team and is being looked at by the Pioneers, one big game in inter league and look what's happened. I bet their will be many AFL talent scouts at the game he play's in on Sunday, watch where this young gun ends up.
I am sure we all wish him well for this weekend, he is a terrific young bloke with loads of talent.
Just goes to show the opportunities that inter league footy can create.

I'd imagine more then 1 game has sparked the interest of the Pioneers not the interleague game in isolation. Great opportunity for him to be noticed your right and good luck to him but what about blokes that are 25+ and no chance of playing AFL or even interested ina higher level, why should they put their bodies through it. I find it ridiculous that it's even up for debate, if someone doesn't wan to play then why should they have to, a club can't force them and they have Premiership points on the line. The league has no right and showed clearly it can't handle the situation by Suspending some over others.

THREE Mildura men were arrested on Sunday night after a scuffle with police at the Sandbar.

It is believed some involved in the incident had earlier attended a football club function.
Police alleged those remaining inside became aggressive but refused to leave, with two patrons, aged 19 and 20, attempting to punch the officers as they were escorted outside.
Police then used pepper spray to subdue the offenders outside the Sandbar before arresting them.
When are these Imps boys going to learn! With reports at the start of the yeat that players want to leave because of their behavior and yet they still go ahead with it?????

Before you blame a certain club make sure you get your facts right, Ive been informed that one of the boys plays for Wentworth.

Think you might be talking about Sam Mcphee here, who I am not too sure if he still plays football. Even if he did, he is not a senior player and not one of the leaders of his club!!!!!

last time i checked sam was the runner for wentys U18 side so surly its not that bigger deal with him plus sam was there for most of the day cause he had his 21st do at the sandy. last i heard is the challis was 1 of the boys being taken out and the youngest hards colby was in trouble with the bouncers also. (but apparently some bloke king-hit colby and started a scruffle then the rest of the crew fired up and thats how they became roudy outside because colby got thrown out and the bloke that hit him was still inside.
not sure if any of this is true is word off the grapevine.

Delray your a man about town.....

It wasn't any of your boys was it?

Sorry hill swan hill cup for me on the weekend....... and i think all the boys are pretty tight lipped at this stage. Certainly didnt read well in the paper.

But boys to more pressing matters top 4 whats it gunna look like????

last week for the teams that meet 3 times ill nearly say that the top 4 wont change after this weeks round of matches.

Looks like oconner have the goal kicking all tied up with the pending games stienberg will miss.

and as for the mcleod - Denaro, Baynes, Deangelis, Hards, Hards

Whats every1 else thinking????

Well if the top 4 teams will stay the same depending on this week then I don't think the top 4 will change with some pretty easy games to pick.
Wentworth would beat South you would think, but then again Merbein gave them a scare last week.

Irymple should beat Merbein. Are Merbein as bad as what everyone thinks??? if Irymple lose then they can kiss Finals goodbye.

Mildura have a chance against Imps with a few injuries to key players and a few still in doubt with match fitness. An Imps loss would mean they will may miss out on the 2nd chance in finals.

Robinvale the question here is how much they will win by?

Denaro for the Medal as well. Is Deangelis available for the Mcleod after being suspended for not playing Interleague?

Reckon he would be .
Not a reportable charge and he was allowed to coach I beleive.

right on the money there hill......

question for the floor........i read in todays paper J Jackon in the centre for the reserves.......thats is not right is it??????

f..uck the the reddy twos are gunna be in for a long long day if thats the case. some1 from the vale wanna shed some light...he was good against us the week before must be more to it??????

Well with everyone that should have won on the weekend winning you have to nearly say that the top 4 is final.
With one final round of every team playing each other and excluding any upsets, the round 13 game of Irymple V's Mildura, being the fight for the fourth position. Both teams could end up on the same amount of points and both have a very similar percentage.

It is very unlikely that it will happen but who would go through to the finals if both teams ended up on the same points and same percentage???
