Didn’t have suns legend alex Rance on my bingo card to model the 24’ guernsey lol

Rance will work at the Suns two days a week and said he was undecided about whether he'd put the boots on again at any level.

"I don't know yet, we're just playing it by ear," he said.

"At this stage I enjoy my life balance that I have, but I think Dimma is leaving a rookie spot open for the mid-season draft just in case," he laughed.

Its a good idea, because sometimes it felt like the players's mindset going out into the game wasn't there.

Footy boss Wayne Cambell added Rance’s role would be one that assists in the mental preparation of players.

“We are excited to have Alex involved with the club next year in a part-time capacity in the leadership and mental skills space,” Campbell said.

“Throughout his playing career, Alex proved himself to be the ultimate professional through his mental preparation and mindset which we believe is an area he can add value to our playing group off the field.

“In his time with Richmond, Alex worked closely with Damien Hardwick, and understands the program he is looking to implement at the Suns after spending many years as vice-captain and in the leadership group.”

I wouldn't get too excited by Rance, he tends to flip flop on what he wants to do and was a bust at Essendon when rutten brought him over (despite the fans excitement). Hopefully he is more committed to this gig over a long period of time, as surely his tutelage of the key defenders should help.

"The 32-year old was only contracted for the pre-season in a part-time role where he was at the club one day per week"

"Rance has stepped away from the club to focus on his business, The Academy, an education program for students."

It doesn't sound like he really had much of a position or stake at the club. If memory serves it only got a big media drum up and people got excited because he played VFL for you guys and people were hopeful that he'd come out of retirement.

seems like his point of focus is leadership and culture rather than coaching so to speak. Should be good to have a fresh voice around the club but I don't think his role here is going to be massive either.

Ahh ok fair enough. It's a bit confusing because it says part time but also 'stepped away' I remember bomber fans feeling a bit let down coz like you said, it was talked up a bit.

Damning from AFfL.com

Of Gold Coast's 10 top-10 picks between 2013 and 2018, a staggering seven have ended up at rival clubs, underlining the club's much-publicised struggle to keep hold of its top talent. The task for the Suns now is to convince their more recent top picks to stay;
