I guess the main difference is our best players (or who should be in time to come) are a younger tier in general to Melbourne. It’s all about your core very good 10 players.

So whilst we do have some more senior guys - lemmens, casboult, Ellis, swallow, Corbett etc.. they are guys who are more or less replaceable with younger players at the end of their careers without huge impact to the team trajectory IMO. Just the way that hibberd replaced by Bowey, jones replaced by Jordan, vince replaced by Langdon etc..and Melbourne are now worse for it.

The young guys at the core of the team premiership build - king, rowell, Anderson, rankine, lukosius, Ballard, hollands etc..will be our best players in 3-4 years.
But these older guys Ellis, swallow, casboult etc.. will be replaced by 3 youngsters ie. sharp, hollands, Andrew.

So fast forward 3-4 years and our average age isn’t really that much different IMO.

Buderick (23) ballard (26) lemmens (29)
Powell (25) Andrew (22) rookie (19)
Sharp (23) Anderson (23) Weller (28)
Ainsworth (27) lukosius (24) hollands (22)
Rankine (25) king (24) chol (28)

Witts (32) rowell (23) Davies (22)

moyle (22) bowes (27) rosas (22) rookie (19)

Edit. Left out collins at 29 - add him in.
And Jeffrey 23 - add him in.

I like your optimism.
I think your selling me short, I t’s not a matter of negativity, football is a results driven game. The Suns have been nothing short of woeful in the areas of player development, year on year ladder position, sponsorship, media liaisons and player trading our entire existence. These are not opinions they are undeniable, surely your not pretending we have done well in these areas??

My point of view is if you accept mediocrity, you get mediocrity.

I just shared info about Suns age and experience profile for the benefit of other Suns fans. I certainly appreciate when other fans share info about the club. That's all.

Sorry, I am not really interested in discussing your views.

I didn't get to see Dewy on AFL360 on the night but Dimma was very supportive of where we are heading. Spoke very highly about Rowell as well
All commentators are supportive. Robbo is the strongest supporter. Until, we lose again.

We can always expect the AFL "experts" to give us a big thumbs up when winning and slam us when we loose.
I like to hear what the opposition coaches have to say. Longmuir had nothing but praise on the weekend for us and Dimma was the same on the panel.
They don't have to blow smoke up our A$%e.

Man, Witts does not get the credit he deserves. He has completely changed our midfield now he is back. Also, he is being more aggressive with his taps which I think means he trusts his midfield more. Gone are the days of taping to his feet for repeat stoppages—now we get some real drive.
If he is robbed of an All Australian blazer I will be livid.

Don't know what to make of that........Reilly O'Brien got dropped for Rd9 and Sam Draper had a shocker............

guess it means.......Wittsy is killin' it....

We've probably got three legitimate AA contenders this year with Touk, Witts and Collins. They've all been outstanding for us this year!

Probably says something about where we're heading when you consider our two co-captain and our vice captain appear to be playing AA level footy this season. Fantastic leadership on display.

I said this over the fence to Wittsy at Sydney

"Best ruck in the comp"

I'm not one to blow smoke but here it is being statistically backed up.

Collins, Miller, Witts... One healthy King away from having an AA Calibre Spine

We are on a massive high after a second big win in a row over Fremantle. We laud our defence getting back to its best. Chol coming into his own with 4 goals. Did Rowell have the best 18 possession game we have seen?

We also look forward to the Bulldogs and if we can expect another great win in Ballarat this weekend?

Thanks for listening,

K

If he had 18 disposals, 18 goals and 18 tackles I would be more impressed.

We may have dodged a huge bullet here and could regain Rory just after the bye. This is potentially massive for our season if we can get him back in a few weeks from now.
