Poor Barlow - can't catch a break.

Senior Gold Coast midfielder Michael Barlow is suffering from Bell’s palsy syndrome as he continues his recovery from a nasty injury in the NEAFL.

The syndrome – which is a paralysis of the muscles on one side of the face – came about after some nerve endings were damaged in Barlow’s face due to the incident in the reserves.

Club medicos are confident that the syndrome will subside in the coming weeks and shouldn’t have too big an impact on his recovery from a broken jaw.

Barlow played out the rest of the game against Southport in early June after the injury and even trained early the following weak before scans confirmed a fracture.

Barlow consequently had surgery where a plate was inserted in his jaw.

More likely the surgery caused the facial nerve injury

To be honest I expected it. He was not right the whole season, could not train, run, jump properly. Time to decide, Tom.

He already said the usual BS in his usual rambling crap Press Conference which was he will wait till sometime after surgery to sit down blah blah

This guy will be more hated than even The Little Wierdo...just wait and see.

He's probably gone but no hate from me.

Lynch done for season. PCL surgery.

Ah.. will be so disappointed if I've seen him in our colours for the last time
Haven't really paid attention to any of the FA talk, just happy to watch the games so haven't really prepared for the end :(

First-year defender Josh Jaska has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after injuring his wrist in the Round 12 NEAFL match against Sydney Uni.

Gold Coast’s GM – Football Operations, Jon Haines, told the Alpha Sport Injury Update the key defender has gone into surgery to have the wrist repaired.

“The timeline is for the screws to be removed in about eight weeks time so effectively that means the season (is over) for Josh,” Haines said.

“We’ll obviously support him through this rehab and have him set up for the off-season period.”

In good news, Haines confirmed four players are set to return in Round 17 barring any further setbacks.

(Matt) Rosa, (Jack) Bowes, (Brayden) Fioriniand (Pearce) Hanley are all tracking really well with their rehab at this stage,” Haines said.

“All things being equal over the next couple of weeks, they’ll all be looking for some game time in Round 17 which is terrific news.”

It is still unclear how long Sam Day will be out with the shoulder injury he sustained in Round 14 against Hawthorn.

The key forward is set to undergo more scans and see a specialist next Monday to determine the best course of action.

“Once those scans have been reviewed and we get an expert opinion from the surgeon we’ll be able to have a clearer picture on what Sam’s rehab looks like in the back half of the year,” Haines said.
