@JoelKennedyy Pick 18 in last year's draft Beau Addinsall has sustained a high-grade hamstring strain and is set to miss the opening stages of the season for the
Gold Coast Suns. The academy product is set to be sidelined for up to 6 weeks - Devastating for the teen, who was on
track for an early debut.

Not the worst result was slightly worried from the early sporting. Beau had been flying on the track too

With 3 games then the bye you would think that they would be conservative and hold him off until after the bye. Rogers news sucks also, the 2 trail games were really important for him to prove himself.

And they reckon he'll be ok for rd1. Hopefully that's a good sign for Rowell and he'll be back for west coast.
Depends on the severity

But also, We don't really need to risk Rowelly for West Coast (with respect to West Coast)

It looks like round 4 for Rowell.

Reigning Brownlow Medallist Matt Rowell will miss more than just Opening Round after undergoing finger surgery on Thursday.

Gold Coast is planning for midfielder Matt Rowell to be sidelined for more than a month after the Brownlow Medallist underwent surgery on a fractured finger on Thursday.
Rowell, 24, injured the finger on his left hand while playing for Victoria in AFL Origin last Saturday and was subsequently ruled out for the Suns’ Opening Round clash against Geelong on March 6.
But after surgery on Thursday to insert pins and screws into the finger, Rowell’s return timeline has stretched into the second month of the season with the superstar on-baller not likely to feature before the club’s Round 3 bye.

Rowell to miss the start of the season with a broken hand. 😥

A colleague is in the same hospital also undergoing surgery, he spoke with Rowell, got the distinct impression that the injury is a little worse than originally thought.

Time will tell if that is right or not.

Does anyone actually know what Rowell has done? Bit weird from the Suns they haven't really given a proper timeline when he'll return. You hear from one person it's nothing and just icing it, then all of a sudden he needs surgery and will miss opening rd then be good for rd 1 and now it's possibly after the bye round. Would be nice to know how bad his injury is?

Broken finger. Pretty bad when pins and screws had to be used (heraldsun above). Next injury report by Suns (Mon-Tue) will probably update timeline.

Rowell had surgery last Thursday and the club is hopeful of a more definitive timeline on his return later this week, but have already ruled him out for the first three matches. Ethan Read will line up against Geelong on Friday night after missing the pre-season match against Brisbane with concussion, while Rogers and Ballard will both be available for selection but likely to play a VFL practice match. - Michael Whiting
