Break it all down here!

Thought the effort was there today. If we played like that last week we would have gone much closer to winning.

May and Rory outstanding. Forwards busted a gut but had very good KPDs on them. Lynch did very well.

Huge game from Smith. Very promising.

In the end we matched a team that are premiership favourites. Who had a very full strength team in. It was this experience that got us in the end. We should learn a lot from that game!

I think we can look at the game and see we didn't take our chances
We're playing 3 huge talls in the forward line but don't seem to have worked out how to use them
You can't ask Day Lynch and Dixon to work in a forward line that is more crowded than Myers on Boxing Day
I'm not sure what to do about Sam Day.Where does he fit in overall.Dunno
Rory and Maysie were great
Gary was bloody brilliant.Best I've seen him play in a while.Possibly the 3 votes.

Sydney's move the ball with purpose. It's fast, precise & direct.
Gold Coast ball movement is chaotic & nonsensical

Every chance Kolo could be a Gunston type
Unfortunately Bluey sees talent and thinks backline ;)
Can't change an old fullback's stripes
We really need that Breust Stevie J type somewhere
I just don't see the value of the 3 mega talls at the moment
Our turnovers through poor disposal...aaaaaaggghhhh!!

Ablett, 3 more Brownlow votes one would think.
Kolo, a gun in the making.( its only his first season )This kid is super impressive.!!!
May did a great defensive job. Broughton also.
Bennell with 21 touches a great effort in first game after injury,, and same for Thompson.
Hunt, well I just think he should return to league, great athlete and has done a great job to achieve what he has in the AFL, but league is his forte.
Russell seems to be battling.
Day,( the other week I got blasted by posting negative comments about him). Not trying to stir the pot again, but geez, how long does the club persist as he is just not producing and been around a few seasons now. I hope he comes good , but at the moment whilst he is a big body that presents, he is really not giving us much else.
Finally, we did a great job today against a flag contender that had won 6 games in a row before today.Another learning process.

.

Just a quick hello, great game today glad I made the trip up to the gold coast to watch the game, I love your stadium and your supporters seem to love the game and cheered to the end. Abblett was supreme again love watching him and kolo is really going to be something.

Look forward to meeting you guys again hopefully in finals or next year.

Here are some interesting stats about our backline.

Clay Cameron: 190cm
Kade Kolodjashnij: 190cm
Trent McKenzie: 191cm

With Rory and Maysie our true KPD's I'm not sure why we are trying to make Clay into the 3rd tall when McKenzie and KK are around the same height and can play the same position. Clay is a touch heavier but ideally you'd like to see Kade or Trent transition into the 3rd tall defense role as they are more of a lock for our best 22. Just his consistent giving away of free kicks and getting pushed off the contest makes me wonder why we are playing him. Anyway enough of my whipping. It's just something that got me thinking. :p

Jager was amazing today. Maybe his best game of the year.

Felt like we played well. Just didn't make the most of our chances.

Did (Master Coach) Guy McKenna make any moves on his magnet board that lead to goals ????????

Daysy definitely didn't have a good game, but he offers a huge amount of flexibility as the third tall that can not only float down back if needed, but also play in the ruck.

Dicko can rotate in the ruck
I'm not sure "flexibility" is enough to justify Sam's position unfortunately
As it stands no-one's pushing him, except maybe Hally if he finds touch
Let's hope Sam starts to dominate and cements his spot over the next couple of weeks

Correct, hes just not giving much value at all. Blokes like Hall etc, have been dropped , but these guys have given more value then Day.So why does Day get to stay in the side on his very very average performances. He has been at the club around the same tenure as Dixon, Smith, Lynch, May and Thompson with these guys developing big time, where Days development is miles behind these guys.. Something is not right.... he needs to go back to the ressies and continue his development there. I do see his potential and hope he grows his game rapidly, but at the moment, he is not AFL senior level standard. The Suns coaching heirachy need to look after this guy and do the right thing by him,for at the moment he is under huge pressure.

Confused today. Will watch the replay tomorrow.

Glad Harley was back in the side because he is generally spectacular when the ball is in his hand. When he doesn't have the ball though he is defensively very poor and lacks effort!
Jaeger had his best game of the year I think? Was a solid game.
Our forwards are allowing us to get torched by their work rate and defensive pressure. Shaw and Malceski this week, last week it was Adelaides back flankers. Jeez our forward line has to respond defensively next week. Sticking on our forwards, we need to invest here in a better coach. Stop leading to the freakin boundaries, that's the easy way out! Our midfield needs to be partly to blame here as well, a couple times they should have popped in to space and made the forward work where the midfielder wanted. Also wish our midfield worked harder defensively we certainly didn't push as hard going the other way.
May and Thommo were immense and did a cracker job that is probably the most feared job in footy at the moment up against Sydney's forward line.
Hunt needs another shot, happy to carry him in a few consecutive games as he has more heart and courage than a couple of the replacements likely to come in.
Shaw is the best sub, I don't think he is starting 21 though.

That will do for now :)

Definitely very impressed by your team today. Your pressure and tackling was as good as any team we've come across this season. Give your forwards a year or two to develop and perhaps find a few more bodies who can rotate through the midfield and you're going to be very hard to stop.

Not too disappointed with that, there was effort which was what was needed.
The start of that 3rd term was really the killer, other than that really matched it with the swans most of the time.
Kolo is a young star in the making, great to see Gaz back to his best, 2-3 votes in the bank.
K-hunt didn't quite have it in his first game back, Although I did like in I think the 3rd quarter; he laid a tackle, then just emerged with the ball, Definitely get glimpses of what he can do.
Steven May for mine for suns BOG, wont get the plaudits of an Ablett but wow he and Rory done a great job. Just need that one or two more KPD somehow. Anywho pretty happy. Now, bring on West Coast.

Thought Zach Smith was fantastic. I think its clear after his last few weeks that he is our first choice ruckman and tom Nichols is the backup. I know Derickx is not the best marker to compare but Zach seemed to consistently win tapouts to advantage. In addition he is better around the ground and can pinch hit in the forward line. So pleased with how he has come back from his knee.

Totally agree Re: forward pressure. Last week Jaensch and Smith had 59 possessions! This week Malceski and shaw had 48..Malceski was the architect of many of their first half goals that gave them the early scoreboard advantage.

I think that's where Jack Martin will be super special for the team. I think when he comes into the side Bluey is going to give him simple instructions. Play forward flank..chase, tackle, pressure. From what I have seen for such a talented boy he has such a desire to do all those things well and loves doing them! His attacking game should speak for itself.

That's also where the question mark over Sam Day comes in. Do we give up too much in that area having him in the team?...Its a tough call to make! I think it could potentially be worth bringing in another small for Day at some point during the year to see how this situation goes. Martin is 188cm, has a fantastic leap and could potentially play as a leading / marking target floating across the front of the pack! Woo!! can't wait for him!!

Thought we played well. Matched it with the leagues best and if we had kicked straighter probably are within 3 goals of them, no shame in today's game.

May BOG easily for me, Ablett back to some form was good also. After also watching WC yesterday too, we are in with a real crack over there this week.
