Thanks for all the answer , so do GC draft a few of them this year 18 years , State league mature players hoping few of them become A , B grader or trade in C+,B- grade midfielder from other team ?
All this players (Cripps , Bontempelli,Merrett ) mention need few years of Development from their own team before they come good .

Not much choice - need to draft and develop

If we can snag a couple elite kids that can at least give us what Ainsworth is giving us at least you have some decent depth to go through the middle compared to throwing someone like Aaron Young in there.

The rebuild of the midfield is already happening, they just haven't been given enough time to develop because they are all still shy of their 21st birthdays. The day you see Lyons on the bench, Swallow playing in the forward line and Miller, Brodie and Scrimshaw line up in the centre square, with Ainsworth, Bowes, Fiorini, Scheer, Powell, Ballard, Martin, Dawson and Bailey Scott rotating through inside and outside midfield positions from the flanks and the bench, you'll know it's on. Every one of those kids needs to bulk up again and again each offseason, while a decent portion of the list needs to be cleaned out and replaced with another generation of potential midfielders who will need even longer to develop.

One of the best ideas I've seen on this forum was to employ Michael Voss as the 2019 midfield coach. Watch the group develop after that and Stuey Dew might be able to semi-retire from coaching after his first premiership like his mate Paul Roos because if you put this group with an elite coach they will produce elite results. Vossy might not have proven to be an elite head coach, but he has done a tremendous job with the Port midfield even with their injury toll.
