Dockers Land Tarrant and Solomon
by Shane Richmond 13/10/2006

Fremantle have pulled off what experts are already dubbing The Trade of the Century. They've combined the uncanny goal kicking ability of Paul Medhurst and the size and marking skills of Graham Polak to produce what other experts are calling a super footballer. They call that footballer Chris Tarrant and next year he'll be at the Dockers.

It was a long and complicated process to get Tarrant to the Dockers. Graham Polak made the job easier when he revealed early in the week that he wasn't the good bloke that everyone wanted to be mates with character he’d been playing but rather an evil monster hell bent on running the club into the ground. Kim Jong Polak declared that he didn't want to play in a premiership side next year, he'd rather go and watch Terry Wallace spewing up at the Tigers leaving September free to work on his plans for world domination.

Fremantle tried to talk him from the brink of madness but he was too far gone. So, after days of trying to convince Richmond that a signed Kevin Bartlett jumper really wasn't worth anything, they did a deal to swap Polak and some draft picks. Fremantle would give Richmond pick number 13, 63 and Polak and Richmond would give the Dockers pick number 8 and 42.

Then it was on to Collingwood. The Magpies had been shopping Chris Tarrant about like a stolen television around the pub but went very coy about it all when the Dockers approached them. So, the Dockers threw pick number 8 at the Magpies and Paul Medhurst, who was looking for a change of scenery (ie. somewhere he could get a game).

Medhurst is apparently keen to join the club and has already started to settle in at Collingwood already, posing for photos and enjoying a drink with the locals.

With Tarrant in the bag, Fremantle then had to go about settling a deal to secure his good luck charm Dean Solomon. Like Henry the Pony and Jardine's Lookout, Tarrant refuses to travel anywhere without Solomon, so the Dockers organised a swap for picks 42 and 47.

Kevin Sheedy through in pick 52 as a bonus after the Dockers were kind enough to stop Mark Harvey from stealing his job last year.
