I agree with Camo, the way this is going and has been for the last 3 days has been nothing short of infuriatingly frustrating.

Simply put if you agree to be in a league like this, you agree to be diligent in looking at and picking your players. And if you can't, you either give your reasons or have the pre-selected lists done so you're not getting shit picks.

Yes, not everyone can be on at the same time, but that's where a more stringent time limit can come in and thinking ahead becomes a bigger player (thus also giving you more reason to stay on the ball with it to make sure you don't have crap players come in). Having to wait 3+ hours because someone's simply not online - without stating why as well I might add - is annoying because we want it to move and be done with.

Then you get the issue where you might go away for 10 minutes and by some miracle everyone is on and rushing through their picks and you're now the one holding everybody up but you don't realise because before that it was taking an hour for someone to take their pick. That's why if you know you only have 10 minutes to make your selection you can be ready for it, pre-selecting your players have your lists ready, backups set, etc. Instead of maybe having a pick now, maybe one 3-5 hours from now, etc.

Just because it doesnt suit you, doesn't make it an illogically stupid system.
BUT in saying that i would prefer to do it with 90 sec picks.
1 you get it done
2 knowing you only have 90 seconds and someone grabs the player you are after adds a bit of tension.

sacka, i love ya mate but a week out from seasons start this is an illogically stupid system....a month before no problem but ppl would be waiting....a LONNNNG time.

and your system there basically mimics what i said should be done....quick enforced time limits is a must and creates a far better draft atmosphere.

Then perhaps you shouldn't have joined in the first place, given that there was always a good chance that it would turn out like this.

perhaps....i think we just shouldn't have taken the draft league to the board though...it'd be finished by now if we didn't.

It's the inconvenience more than anything.

Everyone having to put hours aside each night to watch this thread making sure they're not wasting other people's time, having to tell people where they are, why they can't pick, etc. etc. etc.

You get it set to a 10 or so minute timer, nobody gets inconvenienced as long as you plan ahead.

We just went through, what about 20 picks in a row? And it all moved smoothly, easily and nobody gets annoyed. Now we have to wait hours for several posters to get back from whatever they're doing just to take the next pick, by then it'll be past bedtime for most of the Vic people. When if we had a shorter timer, we'd be done with at least 100 picks in that time!

All that needs to happen next year is plan one night to get a few hours free where everyone can be on (surely there's ONE night where everyone can be - remember, this can be planned days, weeks and months in advanced now that we know the system). And get through it all in a night or around 24 hours.
