I'm in a 14 man Ultimate Footy draft league. We don't find our draft order out until about half an hour before the draft, so no idea how it'll go yet. Last year I took Rocky at pick #4. Injured round 1. I also traded Isaac Smith and Goddard for Sloane prior to round 1. Spent a fair chunk of the season injured too. Had a ****ing terrible year. With those two fit I'd have probably challenged for the win.

This year I think Ablett/Fyfe/Goldy will go first three, not necessarily in that order. After that it's any of the following in the first round: Pendles/Rocky/Danger/Sloane/Selwood/Beams/S. Martin/D. Martin/Mundy/Ward/Armitage. I want Rocky again, almost at any position. Feel like he owes me after last season. :D

also keen to hear how peoples supercoach drafts went. I have pick one and still unsure who to pick out of goldy ablett and fyfe

Anyone who plays Supercoach draft knows how important it is to select the right players in the draft. In a league of 16 you will need to uncover gems others might miss.

How do people here like to draft? 2 of each position? all mids first?

Who are players who might slip under the radar?

Who would you give a miss to?

Last year I was 2nd last in the draft order and subsequently wound up with one of the weaker starting teams, however I ended up on top top of the table and GF winner mostly due to picking up Free Agents at the right time during the season. Picked up Shane Edwards, Tippett, Sam Gray, Mitch Robinson, Aaron Hall, Cripps, Bartel, Wallis, Langdon among others throughout the season. Most of them just before they hit purple patches of super-premo scoring.

It did help that I started with Shaw & Hodge in def who definitely gave me an edge on that line, since we were in a 11 only (3-4-1-3) on the field. So yeh, as much as starting with a strong midfield is desirable you need to have at least 1 or 2 super-premos on each of the other 3 lines. Plenty of 2nd tier mid's average 100+ but not so much on the other lines, so grab a top Def, Ruck & Fwd in the early draft rounds.

In our Ultimate Footy draft league:

Averages

MID
Above 100: 57
Below 100: 81

DEF
Above 100: 8
Below 100: 79

FWD Above 100: 6
Below 100: 84

RUC
Above 100: 9
Below 100: 16

Midfielders in abundance, but very thin in the defence and forward lines. Draft is on the 12th of March. My plan going into it (without knowing my draft position) is to grab a premo MID in Rnd 1 and a FWD like Deledio/Dahlhaus/Barlow in Rnd 2. But you know what they say about the best laid plans....

First year of Supercoach Draft and my plan is to chase points, not positions.
And if I end up with a bench full of midfielders, just trade.

That's because you were the only one paying attention to the waiver wire

That's right, because I was the best player in our league last year. :)

That's right, because no one was paying any attention to it!! ;)

Exactly, I was the best coach because I paid attention to my team all year, just like in regular SC. :) Just because you didn't, doesn't necessarily mean that you or any one else would have beaten me. Coulda, shoulda, didn't. :p:rainbow:

I like your thinking. I'm planning on doing the same in my draft. I have pick #2, which will go to Fyfe or Ablett. Then I'll have pick #19 and #21, which I should be able to snag Martin and Shaw with.

I can't see Martin or shaw lasting till pick 19. I have pick 1 in my 10 person league and neither of them will be available at 20 I'm 90% sure of that.

I always wonder the same thing. I think grabbing a good Ruckman early is a good move.

If anyone's looking for a league to join, we've got a few spots available. Invite code is 881894.

I agree mate. Dusty is hot property for me and I expect he'll end up as the number one forward. Being dual position makes it that much better in case of an injury crisis.

Last year I had pick #7 (out of 10) and picked up Robbie Gray because of the same reasons. I picked most of my side with dual position players, though to be honest I never needed to use them in their second position. Though if I can get a dual I will always put them in my back or forward line, never in the midfield.
I had pick 6 last year and took Robbie Gray also for your exact reasons.

I see the top 10 being:
Goldy
Fyfe
Ablett
Danger
Pendles
Beams
Hanners
Rockliff
Priddis
Armitage

Then:
Swan (mate told me he wants Armo and Swan at 10 & 11)
Gray
JPK
Mundy
Parker
Selwood
Sloane
S. Mitchell (mate likes Mitchell)
Leaving Martin/Shaw available here

I think the next two picks will be two mids as he picked Goldy with his first (likely Shiel and Treloar)

Leaving Martin/Shaw here.

Purely guesstimating though.
