The date and time of draft is different for every league. If you joined a public league, it depends on the preferred time that you have selected.

Once your league is filled you will be given a date and time for the draft. The league i'm in filled on Monday and the draft is tonight.

Anyone that played it last year know how the bench works? The site says you must have a minimum of 3 Defenders, 3 Midfielders, 1 Ruck and 3 Forwards, then a 5 man floating bench. So I could pick 5 mid fielders on my bench that could cover any position?

Thats incorrect.

You pick 3 defenders, mids and forwards and one ruck to start.

Your floating bench has up to 5 players but they can only play in their listed positions.

If you were to load up with 5 midfielders on your bench, you can only play them in the midfield. Therefore if one or more of your defenders, rucks or forwards are not playing, you will have no cover for them. You cant play a midfielder as a defender or a forward unless they are listed as dpp.

It would be most sensible to fill your bench with a mixture of players from all positions. My bench contains 1 def, 1 ruck/fwd dpp, 1 mid and 2 mid/fwd dpp so that i have cover for all the byes and possible short term injuries.

Loading up on midfielders on the bench is simply just a waste of bench positions and will not be a successful strategy.

Had our league draft tonight, was quite fun with everyone being on chat at the same time. Except for one person who couldnt make it and didn't have enough priority on DEF in his pre draft because it automatically filled every other position first, including the bench. So he ended up with 5 decent midfielders on the bench and 3 bottom of the barrel defenders. lol

It seems quite a few players in my league did the same. There was a rush of people dumping good midfielders to pick up forwards and backs in the days after the draft.

I loaded up on the best forwards and backs in the draft and managed to pick up Hodge, Stanton and Redden to go with Swan in my midfield after players had dumped them to fill other positions.

I'm fairly confident i have a team that should dominate when it gets down to the business end of the season considering i have all the above along with Chapman, Franklin, Goddard, Broughton, Bock, McEvoy and Sidebottom.

Wow, interesting.

In our league the top gun forwards and all the elite rucks went in the first few rounds. There's so many good midfielders to choose from once I picked up Ablett and S Thompson with my first 2 picks, I filled my RUC, DEF and FWD line as quickly as I could and was still able to get Shuey (amongst a heap of 90+ avg options) left over after those 7 rounds.

First year in PRO so excited to see how it plays out...
