Really leaning into All Star Superman.

He's my GOAT fictional character. Why I'm trying not to get to hyped for it - quietly optimistic.

Creature Commandos was a good start, so here's hoping.

Yep absolutely, glad you noticed it too. Grant Morrison’s influence is all over this. Straight comic book panels being brought to life.

The Fortress rising sequence was outstanding.

Trying to temper expectations however this is starting to creep up nicely. Creature Commandos was better than I thought it would be.

Very keen now.

I'm not super impressed by the trailer, but I will wait and see the movie when it comes out and make my mind up then. But that trailer does worry me.

Same
First cinema experience since Top Gun Maverick. I want to love it, I think parts of it LOOKS great but then it doesn't lol (CHI done well one frame... WHAT WAS THAT the next).

If they are using the classic march + other themes... great. Part of it reminded me of the "remix" that the Super/man: Christopher Reeve documentary used.

I need it to be successful as success = more Superman merch out into the wild

But also I'm yet to enjoy a James Gunn film. So heart in mouth until July I guess LOL.

You probably won't like the movie then.

I know :(

But Superman is my number 1 comic book character since I was little. Yes the original movie played a role, but the comics, cartoons, games of the 80s fueled my love of Superman.

I might force myself to enjoy it. Broken record but I hate Chris Evans, couldn't stand him in anything I've seen him in previously (and still avoid most other things he's in). Yet the Captain America movies / him in general made the MCU for me... not RD JR.!!

So there's a chance I'll like it even if by force.

Not sold on the costume - and I've liked the cartoon/comics new52 era version(s).

If the movie lives up to the trailer then it'll be the best Superman since Superman II. At 51 years old, hearing the OG Superman Theme sends tingles down the spine. I hope it gets decent use in the movie, not just the trailer.

Yes, same. The theme will be utilised in the film too, for sure. I’m paraphrasing here, Gunn has essentially said he views this theme as the iconic Superman music, much like the James Bond theme has been used for several iterations regardless of the actor at the time.

Haven't been a fan or impressed at all but the trailer has piqued my interested a bit.

Not a fan of Lex Luthor from what I see I wish they humanised him alike Smallville but Hoult's portrayal is way too cartoonish and stiff.

Seems like they are incorporating Man of Steel destruction but Superman is given the chance justify his actions

I'm so glad there's no Snyder/Gunn arguments in here.

Loving the look of this so far. I like the suit design, but feel that they have used fabric that's too thick. I hope he gets a new one at some point in the movie and they've just managed to keep it under wraps.
Having said that, previous suits aren't without fault.
Reeve - classic 80s, basically just lycra. Was great for the time.
Cain - basically the same as Reeve's.
Routh - my personal fave. Slightly darker colours, but not too dark. Criticised for having a small S emblem.
Welling - didn't really wear it until right at the end. Think they just used the Routh one from memory.
Cavill - too dark for me personally and not a fan of dropping the trunks (no pun intended).
Routh - in Crisis TV crossover. Awesomely done with the Kingdom Come style suit.
Tyler (TV) - ok for TV budget, but muscles look drawn on.

I think any criticism of Gunn has mainly been around retiring Cavill (I'll put my hand up and say I was one).

Movie hasn't come out yet, but the talk from Gunn and trailers put out a lot of hope that he's doing a good course correction for DC.

Creature Commandos which had no right being as good as it was, was great.

Time will tell, but his appointment looks to be well justified in the end.

Only thing I'm not a fan of is him cherry picking stuff he's done prior to becoming a DC head to still be part of the DCU. Should have been a 100% clean slate.

Regardless, looks promising we'll be getting a lot more quality DC content going forward.

watched the Reeve film sequels this week for the first time, enjoyable, it’s a consistent quadrilogy to me. Probably prefer II most overall. III with Pryor was hilarious and tracking to be my fave, just got a little too cartoony at the end.

Richard Lester >>> Donner

trailer for the new one has some promise but like Xtreme Gunn isn’t to my taste

I saw the most recent trailer promoting ticket sales, the cgi takes me out of the film. Not like how the Marvel films look like a TV show budget (obvious green screen moments) but pretty close.

Yes agreed with this. WB have lots to be accountable for here too right before Gunn’s appointment with Safran. Announcing the sequel with Cavill, his social media posts etc, to then just a month later scrap that whole thing was a very poor look. The optics were very average for those concerned.

Creature Commandos was quietly excellent. And as much as I liked Peacemaker and the idea of Viola Davis continuing as Waller (she’s perfect for the role really), it does get convoluted and messy with regards to what is being rebooted and what is going to continue etc.

All the superhero suits look the same and the Peacemaker trailer confirms they are working in some capacity for Maxwell Lord. I would think Supes breaks with this during the film and comes out with a new suit. The latest TV spot has a very blurry look at it, apparently. Then at some point in the next film or two, the JL is formed and we get unique costumes for the others.
