Okay, just spent the last week catching up on Series 4 and 5.

Really loving the whole vessels/heaven vs hell/angels story arc.

Cass is a gun. Ditto Dean and Gabrielle (think there's still an opening there for him to play a role, as they didn't really tie up his 'story'). I find myself feeling unsympathetic towards Sam for some reason.

Really don't see any other alternative apart from the Michael > Dean thing. However the writers seem to have a knack of drawing out new elements (i.e. Michael needs Dean; Wait, we'll find the colt; No hang on, we'll find God, and now we're back to Michael needing Dean). Agree that any episode that has featured arch angels or Cass have been better eps.

Anyone else think that God still has a role to play in this?

Zachariah describing Sam and Dean "you know Sam and Dean Winchester are psychotically irrationally erotically co-dependent on each other, right?"

Zachariah again "we didn't lie, we just avoided certain truths to manipulate you"

Definitely an unmissable episode

Dean (Jensen Ackles) begins to think the only way to stop Lucifer is to say yes to Michael, but the angels decide they don't need him anymore. Dean, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Castiel (Misha Collins) are horrified at the angels' new game plan and take on Zachariah (guest star Kurt Fuller) to prevent an all out war on Earth. Meanwhile, a familiar face returns.

ep 518 - means there are now only four episodes before the season finale.

Wow, Hammer of the Gods is a really interesting episode. The other non-judeo-christian gods make an appearance and they are not happy, Jan.

Annalee Newitz of io9 wrote an interesting analysis (contains spoilers - best not to read until after you've watched the episode)

Anyone ever read Sandman, specifically the Serial Killer Convention edition (my favourite ftr)? Definite deja vu in this ep.

Loved it, top ep.

Gabrielle siding with humanity was a nice touch. Would've been good to see him stick around for another ep of two.

Thought this ep undermined the whole 'only Michael is powerful enough' thing, with Gabrielle coming so close.

Don't see how the boys will pull the whole cage thing off, but hey, they've probably done harder stuff.

Bring back Cass.

Thought the ep was a bit of a filler ep personally as we really didn't get anywhere in terms of main story line and it felt like it was just there to make up the numbers ahead of the big finale. That said, the guy who played the exec did a brilliant job and it's a pity he only stuck around for one episode.
