Excellent ep, Cas as a human is interesting.

Like Crowley, the cheeky bugger.

Dining with death was done very well. Liked the Slo-mo intro when he arrived on the streets of Chicago too. :thumbsu:

Adam will have a big play in this I reckon.

How good are the secondary characters this season!

They've been fantastic. Awesome ep. Second favourite Death after:

Really hope the season doesn't end in a cliffhanger. We've been building up to this point for so long that if they go "tune-in 6 months to see what happens" I'll be pretty pissed off.

Same. I've read around that the demons vs angels story was to be done in 5 seasons so I'm thinking there will definitely be some kind of cliff hanger but they might wrap the main story arc.

Hey, Assbutt! :D

Was it just me or was the ending meant to say that -> Chuck was God?

Castiel better be back next season. What a guy.

I thought that episode was great. One of the best, if not the best, of the shows history. Obviously they had been planning it for a while, and it showed. The bits about the car were unexpected, and overall it wasn't rushed or a cop out.

Some showdown! And I mean to be ambiguous for those who haven't seen the finale yet. It was a nice tidy end to the story arc of seasons 4 and 5. Looks like it was written in a way to tie up loose ends in case the series wasn't renewed.

Annalee Newitz of io9 wrote another interesting analysis (contains spoilers - best not to read until after you've watched the final episode)

Must admit I'm a little confused with that end scene. Not sure whether Sam is Sam/Lucifer/Alive/Something else...

Loved the rest of it; the Chuck narration with car backstory (whats the deal with the disappearing act?? - nice theory Banjo Dog), Castiel, the Lucifer dialogue, Dean's attitude, the Lucifer vs Sam mind games, all great.

Sure everything is wrapped up, but I was sort've keen to see the long awaited death match, seeing as thats what we've been leading up to for the past 2 seasons.

Very happy that I decided to catch up on Seasons 4 and 5; one of the best shows on TV

p.s. also loved the editors used 'wayward son' again.

finale was a bit weird...

i wanted see to see at least some bombs and explosions during the big fight... it was the most important scene in the history of human kind and it was directed very poorly and like a mini budget home-made scene...

Chuck is god???

how da hell did sam escape? and what is he now??

i love Castiell!! glad he's the new boss in town..

overall disappointed in the episode...for 5 seasons it lead to this single spisode..every storyline and every fight was a lead-in to this moment and it was a big letdown.

but in terms of dialogue, manifestation of love, trust between families/friends and the montage that reflected on their long journey on the road was excellent...very poignant

My thoughts:

- Chuck is/was God
- Sam is back as a Ghost (lights flickering?)
- Dean will 'settle down' and do just the odd job until he finds out about Sam

Should have left Cas & Bobby dead.

Chuck being God was a nice touch.

Sammy staring at Deans new ife, was a little unnerving for me.

With Eric Kripke leaving, I hope the show doesn't jump the shark next season.

nooo Castiel is my favorite character apart from Dean..dont kill him!

I dont think Chuck is GOD...why do you guys think that??

The only thing he did was disappear into thin air which any supernatural being can do..

lights flickering could mean many other things...Lights go off when angels or demons also are around

This poster makes a pretty good argument as to why he/she thinks Chuck was God, has some other good thoughts too:

'Chuck is definitely God. They way he was talking as a writer not being able to tie up all the loose ends or please everyone is also a paradigm for God's job of answering everyone's prayers.

The Impala realization was just plain genius. It was the brothers home and thats where the heart is, somthing the Devil cannot understand.

At the end with Sam showing up, and everyone wondering whether he's good or bad . . . It's very obvious to me that he is now an Angel. He died in a selfless act and was rewarded with wings.

He now has the decision to make of letting Dean know that he's an Angel or let him live his life and just watch over him like a guardian.

I'm guessing this will be the theme of season 6 in which Sam struggles with Angel life and ultimately decides to cut off his wings and return to humanity.'

I really do not think he was God simply because I refuse to believe God would be portrayed as a bumbling fool who dates a girl who writes gay fan fiction books and loves female sex hotlines and dirty mags..

whats the impala realization?

Also the necklace dean wears, or used to wear. that glows hot around god. he was wearing the necklace in all the episodes where dean is around chuck.

i know the impala is their car but what i meant was what did they realise about the car??
Its been the one object that has been with Dean & Sam thier entire life.
