I see that McDonalds are trying to counteract the film in OZ, by showing new advertisements basically saying, "We could have told you it is not healthy to eat McDonalds 3 times a day for a month".

The counter-argument by McDonalds seems a bit ridiculous.

They say he is overeating, however he is simply having a normal McDonalds meal each time.

They say he is foolish to give up exercise, however it was quite clear that he was replicating the average American.

However, I wonder if that is simply the Australian McDonalds approach to try to distance itself from its more unhealthy parent.

Anyone else find everything McDonalds do really sinister?

Just something untrustworthy about them to me.

Words like smoke-screen always jump to mind with this new health kick they are on...

This is the thing...McDonalds isn't healthy...no? really?!

The marketing campaign is ridiculous because of that, we already knew but we still eat there (well I don't because it tastes bad), to have these ads shows that the movie's bothered them.

The problem is, McDonalds refuse to admit that it's crap.

The entire basis for Morgan Spurlock's film was the sight of the McDonalds exec (the one who recently died) claiming that McDonalds was healthy food, and would not contribute to one becoming obese.

I've got nothing against McDonalds whatsoever. I don't mind the occasional cheeseburger or McChicken. What I don't like are fat bloody idiots blaming and suing Macca's for making them obese. They don't force anyone to eat there.

The new McDonalds ad makes sense, even if it contradicts what that McDonalds exec said - everyone knows it's **** food but him, seemingly.

McDonalds did claim their food was healthy. You'd be stupid to believe it, but that's not the point. It seems just like the cigarette company cases to me.

I agree Nic, but I don't think that McDonalds should announce "Hey, our food is crap" What sort of business would?

Burgers, Chips and Ice-cream aren't healthy whether you get them from McDonalds or anywhere else. For those concerned about the amount of salt, fat and sugar, they can find out themselves as nutrition guides are available at the stores and on the internet.

People need to start taking responsibility for themselves and what they eat. You can't blame McDonalds for poor health. Blame yourself.

McDonalds apparently serves 47 million customers per day in over 30,000 restuarants around the world. No matter how many people try to ruin them, they are still going to be a popular and successful chain.

I love eating Maccas, and perhaps eat it a bit too often but I'm not gonna blame them if i suddenly become overweight.

The new campaign hitting back at "Supersize Me" is fine. He's just saying what everyone already knows.

Having said that, I still wanna see the movie.

They don't need to announce that - anyone with half a brain knows that.:p If they felt they had to make an announcement, they could however truthfully announce that Macca's could be part of a balanced diet if eaten in moderation, but that's not going to happen.;)

At least they are trying to introduce more healthy options to their menus, even if that's not what people go there to eat.

I'm hungry now.

I've seen it.

The point of the documentary is not to show that McDonalds is bad for you, it is to show that overeating of fast food is a severe American (and to a degree, Australian) problem and that McDonalds does nothing to discourage or address this and the situation is only getting worse as private catering companies take over school cafeterias and serve crap to the kids simply because they will buy it and they will make a profit.

It also goes on to show how McDonalds hook kids on advertising, toys and playgrounds from an early age. It becomes a cultural addiction.

I saw it a couple of weeks before it opened as part of a media teachers conference with a friend.

Have eaten McDonalds twice since. Feel as guilty as sin when I do.

I'm not going to pretend I think it tastes crap I like it.
