Surprises(Late Picks who are Guns):

Goldsack - Taken in the 4th Round at Pick 63. Overage Def/Mid who has Played very well as a Defender and Negating Attacks

J Westhoff - Taken 5th Round at Pick 71. Plays as a Tall Forward and Taken that late plays like one of the Best in the 06 Draft. Has Great Hands

J Hill - Taken 4th Round at Pick 61. Showing that he can be a Very Good Small Forward/Midfielder for the Dogs

Disappointments(High Draft Pick's Not Showing Much in the AFL):

Sellar - Was rated started of the 2006 as Possible Number 1 Pick but had a Poor 2006 that he Fell to his Home Town Crows at Pick 14. Those still Highly Rated and Looked like a Steal(Still Could Be) but Has not show much at AFL Level and Only Playing 1 Game

Thorp - Higly Rated KPP Tassie Boy who went at Pick 6 and Had high hopes and the Hawks. Those is hard to get in past Buddy or Roughy but Has been Injured. Was highly touted at seasons start but Did not play a Game.

Fair assessment of Thorp - injuries and significant competition for a game in the Hawthorn forward line have restricted him to one game so far. His head may be a little larger than it should be.

But don't discount the impact of playing in a poor Box Hill side also. Affected Dowler more than Thorp, but the VFL Hawks were inept for much of the season.

Picked up Clint Jones in the rookie draft I think, averaged close to 20 touches a game I think...

Armo, 7 tackles in 50% game time, more tackles than touches. :p

Give him another pre season, he's ready to tear this shit apart.
this thread is not titled "tell us who your club drafted in 2006"

neither of those players have been surprises

get out

Surprises

Kyle Riemers- Pretty good for pick 47

Alwyn Davey- Was a ready made player but has been a gun during the few occasions he's actually managed to get on the field.

Shaun Grigg- He was selected reasonably high (pick 19) but he wasn't rated by many predraft. He's certainly proved his doubters wrong.

Disappointments

Clayton Collard- Talented player but obviously a complete idiot.

Tom Hawkins- I said he was overrated when he was drafted. I've been proven right so far.

No he hasnt

Most games hes been getting possessions in the high teens with several marks, chiping in for a few goals. He just finished the year on sunday kicking 3 goals.

That whole draft was terrible for Freo. Collard, O'Brien and Mourish. Only one remains on our list and he is always injured

pick 31 should have been either Nathan Krakeour or Kyle Riemers

Sharrod Wellingham can play well over and above his first round rookie draft selection.

Sellar's progress from a distance is the most surprising / disappointing, given I was in favour of picking him up with #8/#10. Collard would have also been in condsideration.

Surprise.

Michael Jamison.

The Blues picked him after Sam Jacobs.

Disappointment.

Clinton Benjamin who made Judd look like an average athlete on the training track, but has looked disinterested this year according to VFL watchers.

Disappointing when he kicked two OK goals in his first VFL game last year.

Benji will probably join Schmidt and Collard on the scrapheap.

Hopefully he makes it onto someone's rookie list.

Disappointments:
Frawley
Reid
Thorp
Harsh on the disappointments mate. Reid was always going to take time being so skinny and both he and Thorp have battled injuries (not to mention a little bit of competition up forward in the case of Thorp). Frawley's already played 20 games as a 19 year old KPD (has recently turned 20) and has done well without being fantastic. Hardly say I'm disappointed with the return on that pick yet.

I don't think the non-existent Nathan Ablett and Tom Lonegan really offered some stiff opposition for the position this year.
Slightly harsh to be writing him off after two seasons. The hype on him was always a bit over the top but being a KPP he was always a chance to take a few seasons to find his legs.
